High School Football Power Rankings: Five Teams Remain
Five teams remain. Two, maybe three of them will remain after this week. Was it a bad season for local football? Hard to say. I think it was more circumstances than anything. Rochester’s season looks worse than it was because of one loss and a ridiculous first round match-up with Woodland, Olympia had only one bad loss and basically didn’t make the playoffs because Gig Harbor was a huge surprise, and the 3A Narrows League only had three playoff spots so North Thurston was left out.
——————————————–
Playoff teams
1. Tumwater T-Birds (9-0, 5-0 2A EvCo)
Last week: #1 (No change)
Previous game: Tumwater 56, Black Hills 22
Playoff game: vs. Aberdeen (4-5) – Tumwater Stadium – Saturday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Undefeated regular season? Check. Now must go undefeated this season. First up: Aberdeen, who won a three team playoff on Tuesday night to even make the playoffs.
2. Timberline Blazers (6-3, 5-1 3A Narrows)
Last week: #2 (No change)
Previous game: Timberline 41, Shelton 0
Playoff game: vs. Meadowdale (5-4) – South Sound Stadium – Saturday, 1:00 PM
Notes: The Blazers kept it rolling against Shelton and won the 3A Narrows League title thanks to five straight wins. They draw the Wesco’s #5 team, Meadowdale, who have lost three straight games. The Blazers are a team that have obviously come together and could make a deep run in the playoffs.
3. Tenino Beavers (5-4, 5-1 1A Evergreen)
Last week: #4 (+1)
Previous game: Tenino 37, Rochester 27
Playoff game: vs. White Salmon (5-4) – Tenino Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: First league title since 1986, how does that sound? Not too bad for a team that I originally ranked at #9 and dropped as low as #11 after dropping three straight to open the year. They definitely are hot having won five of their last six (their only loss coming to 9-0 La Center) and have an outstanding two way player in Zack Chamberlain.
4. Capital Cougars (4-5, 3-2 2A EvCo)
Last week: #5 (+1)
Previous game: Capital 38, River Ridge 14
Playoff game: @ Mark Morris (8-1) – Longview Memorial Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: 0-4 to start the season, finished 4-1 and snagged the third playoff spot in the 2A EvCo. Unfortunately, they now have to take on 8-1 Mark Morris in Longview. But the Cougars are battle tested and nearly beat WF West in their only loss over the last five weeks and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they upset the Monarchs.
5. Rochester Warriors (6-3, 4-2 1A Evergreen)
Last week: #3 (-2)
Previous game: Tenino 37, Rochester 27
Playoff game: @ Woodland (8-1) – Kalama Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: What a disaster for the Warriors. Their loss to Tenino dropped them all the way to #3 in the 1A Evergreen and sends them to Kalama to take on one loss Woodland, who outscored their opponents 416-53 in their eight wins. Their only loss came to undefeated La Center 52-21 in the regular season finale.
Missed the playoffs
6. Olympia Bears (6-3, 4-2 4A Narrows)
Last week: #6 (No change)
Previous game: Olympia 48, Yelm 10
Week 10 game: @ North Thurston (5-4) – South Sound Stadium – Thursday, 7:00 PM
7. North Thurston (5-4, 3-3 3A Narrows)
Last week: #9 (+2)
Previous game: North Thurston 41, Mount Tahoma 8
Week 10 game: vs. Olympia (6-3) – South Sound Stadium – Thursday, 7:00 PM
8. Black Hills (4-5, 2-3 2A EvCo)
Last week: #7 (-1)
Previous game: Tumwater 56, Black Hills 22
9. River Ridge (4-5, 1-4 2A EvCo)
Last week: #8 (-1)
Previous game: Capital 38, River Ridge 14
10. Yelm Tornadoes (3-6, 1-5 4A Narrows)
Last week: #10 (No change)
Previous game: Olympia 48, Yelm 10
Week 10 game: vs. Mount Tahoma – Tornadoes stadium – Thursday, 7:00 PM
11. Rainier Mountaineers (2-7, 0-6 1A Evergreen)
Last week: #12 (+1)
Previous game: Rainer 62, Seton Catholic 29
Week 10 game: @ Winlock (0-9) – Winlock HS – Thursday, 7:00 PM
12. Shelton Highclimbers (1-8, 1-5 3A Narrows)
Last week: #11 (-1)
Previous game: Timberline 41, Shelton 0
Week 10 game: @ Stadium (2-7) – Stadium Bowl, Tacoma – Friday, 7:00 PM

Olympia 48, Yelm 10 – The Olympian

Andrew Paquin rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns, all in the first half, and Timberline clinched the 3A Narrows League title with a 41-0 win over Shelton. Gabe Gutierrez hooked up with Jonathan Dowell on a 19 yard touchdown pass in the second quarter and Markell Barnes scored twice in the second half.
The Blazers have now won five straight games after a 1-3 start and will face the #6 team out of the Metro League in the playoffs next week.
The Highclimbers fell to 1-8 and will play a week 10 game at Stadium on Friday night.
—————
Tenino won their first league title since 1986 with a 37-27 win over rival Rochester. Zack Chamberlain rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns in an instant back and forth classic. The Beavers took the title thanks to their win and Montesano’s 42-14 win over Elma, who could have won the title with a win. Instead Tenino took the #1 seed, Montesano #2, Rochester #3 and Elma #4.
—————
For the second straight year we were robbed of a three team mini-playoff in the 2A EvCo thanks to Capital’s 38-14 win over River Ridge. The Cougars clinched the #3 seed behind #1 Tumwater and #2 WF West.
—————
Olympia got the easy win over Yelm but missed out on the playoffs with Bellarmine’s dismantling of Gig Harbor and Central Kitsap’s 28-14 win over South Kitsap.

High School Football Power Rankings: T-Birds Clinch EvCo Title and #1 Ranking
Four teams have locked up playoff spots but Tumwater is the only team to clinch a league title, the other three have their chance on Friday. Four other teams have a chance at the playoffs and four others have been eliminated. Here is how it breaks down…
——————————————–
Clinched playoff spots
1. Tumwater T-Birds (8-0, 4-0 2A EvCo)
Last week: #1 (No change)
Previous game: Tumwater 59, River Ridge 0
Next game: @ Black Hills (4-4) – Tumwater Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Another absolutely dominating performance for Tumwater and all that they have left between them and a perfect regular season is Black Hills in the Pioneer Cup on Friday. They have clinched the 2A EvCo title no matter what happens thanks to their win over WF West two weeks ago.
2. Timberline Blazers (5-3, 4-1 3A Narrows)
Last week: #2 (No change)
Previous game: Timberline 34, North Thurston 7
Next game: @ Shelton (1-7) – Highclimbers Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: The Blazers clinched a playoff spot with their win over rival North Thurston and will likely wrap up the 3A Narrows League title with a win at Shelton this week. The Blazers have won four straight games after their early season swoon that saw them get spanked by Tumwater, make a ton of mistakes in a loss to Olympia and drop a hard fought game to Wilson.
3. Rochester Warriors (6-2, 4-1 1A Evergreen)
Last week: #4 (+1)
Previous game: Rochester 49, Stevenson 27
Next game: @ Tenino (4-4) – Tenino Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Rochester easily beat Stevenson in a non-league game and will return to the 1A Evergreen with a rivalry game with the league title on the line. The Warriors could finish as low as third in the league with a loss to Tenino so there is a lot on the line in a game that hasn’t been this important since 1996.
4. Tenino Beavers (4-4, 4-1 1A Evergreen)
Last week: #5 (+1)
Previous game: Tenino 39, Hoquiam 32
Next game: vs. Rochester (6-2) – Tenino Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Tenino is in thanks to their wins over Montesano and Hoquiam in the past two weeks and can win the 1A Evergreen if they beat Rochester and Monte can knock off Elma. They’ll take second with a win and an Elma win and could but will fall to third with a loss. Playing in Tenino is a big advantage for the Beavers.
Still alive for a playoff spot
5. Capital Cougars (3-5, 2-2 2A EvCo)
Last week: #3 (-2)
Previous game: WF West 42, Capital 28
Next game: @ River Ridge (3-5) – South Sound Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: The situation is simple for Capital, win and you’re in. If the Cougars lose and Black Hills pulls off the upset it will be the Wolves. If they lose and Tumwater beats Black Hills, Capital, Black Hills and River Ridge will be tied for third at 2-3 and each will have 1-1 records against each other. Not sure how the tiebreaker would be solved yet, though.
6. Olympia Bears (5-3, 3-2 4A Narrows)
Last week: #8 (+2)
Previous game: Olympia 28, Bellarmine 10
Next game: vs. Yelm (3-5) – Ingersoll Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: With their season on the line, Olympia came up HUGE with a dismantling of Bellarmine. The Bears have the most complicated playoff scenario and I can’t even begin to break it down to an easily understandable couple of lines so I will just refer you to The Olympian.
7. Black Hills (4-4, 2-2 2A EvCo)
Last week: #7 (No change)
Previous game: Black Hills 45, Centralia 20
Next game: vs. Tumwater (8-0) – Tumwater Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: No matter what happens in their game against Tumwater, they need one thing to happen: River Ridge needs to beat Capital. There is no other way for them to make the playoffs. With a loss and a River Ridge win, they would be in a three way tie for third at 2-3. If they pull the huge Pioneer Cup upset with a River Ridge win, they end up as the #3 seed outright.
8. River Ridge (4-4, 1-3 2A EvCo)
Last week: #9 (+1)
Previous game: Tumwater 59, River Ridge 0
Next game: vs. Capital (3-5) – South Sound Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Even with just one win in conference, the Hawks still have some life. They need to beat Capital and hope Tumwater holds serve against Black Hills. The three would be tied at 2-3 with the tiebreaker yet to be determined.
Eliminated from playoff contention
9. North Thurston (4-4, 2-3 3A Narrows)
Last week: #6 (-3)
Previous game: Timberline 34, North Thurston 7
Next game: vs. Mount Tahoma (0-8) – South Sound Stadium – Thursday, 7:00 PM
Notes: With just three playoff spots this year in the 3A Narrows, the Rams are out, which is surprising considering that they looked like a smash mouth team that was an antidote to the speed of the rest of the 3A Narrows. But speed won out and the Rams are only ahead of hapless Shelton and Mount Tahoma.
10. Yelm Tornadoes (3-5, 1-4 4A Narrows)
Last week: #10 (No change)
Previous game: Gig Harbor 56, Yelm 14
Next game: @ Olympia (5-3) – Ingersoll Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Yelm’s record is actually a bit deceptive: the three teams that they have beaten are just 2-22 combined (Highline 0-8, Stadium 1-7, Shelton 1-7).
11. Shelton Highclimbers (1-7, 1-4 3A Narrows)
Last week: #12 (+1)
Previous game: Shelton 42, Mount Tahoma 0
Next game: vs. Timberline (5-3) – Highclimber Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Hey! The Highclimbers got the big win nearly doubling their season total for points with their 42-0 dismantling of Mount Tahoma. They can play spoiler against Timberline on Friday but that’s unlikely. They might get a second win when they take on Stadium in week 10.
12. Rainier Mountaineers (1-7, 0-6 1A Evergreen)
Last week: #11 (-1)
Previous game: Montesano 35, Rainier 6
Next game: vs. Seton Catholic (3-4) – Doc Harris Stadium, Camas – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Seven straight losses for the Mountaineers means that they need a win over Seton Catholic on Friday to top their win total from 2012.
Friday scoreboard: Oly Rolls; Big Day for Geoducks; Highclimbers Earn First Win
USARS Roller Derby National Championships
Oly Rollers 310, Tall City 0
The Oly Rollers shutout Odessa-Midland’s Tall City 310-0 in game one of the United States Roller Sports Roller Derby National Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Oly, the defending champions, moves on to play Seattle’s Antagonist Roller Derby on Saturday at 10:30 Pacific time.
Men’s soccer
Evergreen 3, College of Idaho 0 – Recap
Ethan Sumlin, Brice Boum and Dyson Fowler each scored in Evergreen’s 3-0 win over College of Idaho on Friday afternoon at Evergreen Pitch. Mauricio Sanchez made three saves to earn the shutout and the Geoducks moved into fourth place in the conference at 4-4-2.
Men’s basketball
Evergreen 92, UBC-Okanagan 87 – Recap
Kyle Calhoun hit eight three pointers and finished with 34 points in Evergreen’s 92-87 opening day win over the University of British Columbia-Okanagan in Kamloops, BC. KJ Hong scored 25 points by hitting six three pointers of his own while Michael Potter added 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
College volleyball
Evergreen 3, Oregon Tech 1 (25-23, 26-24, 21-25, 25-14) – Recap
Victoria Love collected 22 kills, Kelsey Delagrange had 40 assists and Brittany Covert made eight blocks in Evergreen’s four set win over Oregon Tech at the CRC Gymnasium. The Geoducks are now 4-14 overall and 3-10 in the CCC, just the second time they have won three or more games in conference since 2007.
High school football
Olympia 28, Bellarmine Prep 10 – The Olympian
Shelton 42, Mount Tahoma 0
Timberline 34, North Thurston 7 – The Olympian
Black Hills 45, Centralia 20
Tumwater 59, River Ridge 0 – Eli Sports
Tenino 39, Hoquiam 32
Rochester 49, Stevenson 27
Gig Harbor 56, Yelm 14
W.F. West 42, Capital 28 – The Olympian
Montesano 35, Rainier 6
Jake Henry rushed for 120 yards and four touchdowns and Brian Nault added a pair of rushing touchdowns in the third quarter to lead the Shelton Highclimbers to their first win of the season, a 42-0 romp over Mount Tahoma at Highclimbers Stadium in Shelton.
Henry did all of his damage on 12 rushes in the first half and carried just one more time the rest of the way. Nault went for 61 yards on seven carries and Gordon Henry amassed 57 yards as the Highclimbers racked up over 285 yards of rushing on the night.
The T-Birds have scored just 12 points all season and lost their top running back midway through the second quarter when Gregg Williams came up lame and was caught from behind on a 67 yard scamper. The T-Birds never seriously threatened again thanks to Nault’s eight tackles for loss.
Before tonight, the Highclimbers had scored just 44 points total. After nearly doubling their points for the season, they are now 1-7 overall and 1-4 in the 3A Narrows League. Meanwhile, Mount Tahoma dropped to 0-8.

High School Football Power Rankings: T-Birds Easily on Top; Streaky Teams Rise
Tumwater has a lock on #1 and even if they drop a game to either River Ridge or Black Hills in the next two weeks, they will probably go the entire season as the top team in the Oly Sports Power Rankings.
After that, though, it’s a big question mark. Timberline and Capital are riding the longest winning streaks of the remaining teams with three each and end up at #2 and #3 despite long losing streaks of their own. Rochester would be #2 but they dropped a game to Montesano two weeks ago.
All but three teams are still technically in the playoff hunt but only five teams actually have a legitimate shot at going to the postseason. The playoff picture breaks down like this (yes, it’s a bit murky and wishy-washy):
In: Tumwater, Rochester
Almost in: Timberline
Good chance to be in: Capital, Tenino
Possibly in with a little help: North Thurston
Chances are extremely slim: Black Hills, Olympia, River Ridge
Out: Yelm, Rainier, Shelton
——————————————–
1. Tumwater T-Birds (7-0, 3-0 2A EvCo)
Two weeks ago: #1 (No change)
Previous game: Tumwater 59, Centralia 20
Next game: vs. River Ridge (4-3) – Tumwater Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Not surprisingly, the T-Birds ran past Centralia and have a stranglehold on the top spot in the Oly Sports power rankings and moved to the #1 spot in the coaches poll last week. What is really impressive about Tumwater is that they have had a different star nearly every single week. Last week it was Christian Cummings again. Who will it be this week?
2. Timberline Blazers (4-3, 3-1 3A Narrows)
Two weeks ago: #6 (+4)
Previous game: Timberline 60, Mount Tahoma 0
Next game: vs. North Thurston (4-3) – South Sound Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: The Blazers are a streaky team this year, for sure, and are back in the #2 spot in the power rankings thanks to a three game losing streak and the struggles of other area teams. Timberline lost three straight games but have won three in a row beating Lincoln, Foss and Mount Tahoma with North Thurston and Shelton left to play. And thanks to Foss knocking off Wilson and the big Lincoln/Wilson game coming up on Friday and a key Foss/Lincoln game to close out the season, the Blazers could very well end up winning the Narrows.
3. Capital Cougars (3-4, 3-1 2A EvCo)
Two weeks ago: #7 (+4)
Previous game: Capital 39, Black Hills 7
Next game: vs. WF West (6-1) – Ingersoll Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: After a killer opening four weeks of the season that saw them take on three 4A schools and Tumwater, the Cougars are as hot as can be outscoring their opponents 136-20 over the last three games and now find themselves as the odds on favorite to take the third and final playoff spot in the 2A EvCo and could actually end up taking the #2 spot with a win over WF West this week.
4. Rochester Warriors (5-2, 4-1 1A Evergreen)
Two weeks ago: #3 (-1)
Previous game: Rochester 35, Forks 7
Next game: vs. Stevenson (2-5) – Rochester Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Rochester rebounded convincingly with a 35-7 win over Forks after dropping a game to Montesano two weeks ago and they sit half a game ahead of the rest of the pack in the 1A Evergreen at 4-1 with a non-conference game coming up on Friday against Stevenson. The Warriors have complete control their own destiny in the conference and would take home the title with a win at Tenino next week. Lose to Tenino and either Elma or the Beavers would take home the top spot.
5. Tenino Beavers (3-4, 3-1 1A Evergreen)
Two weeks ago: #5 (No change)
Previous game: Tenino 26, Montesano 6
Next game: vs. Hoquiam (2-5) – Tenino Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Crazy season in the 1A Evergreen and Tenino did something they haven’t done in 17 seasons: beat Montesano. And they did so handily and have given themselves an opportunity to win the conference. First they need to beat Hoquiam at home on Friday, then knock off Rochester on November 1st and hope that Elma falters against either Forks or Montesano.
6. North Thurston (4-3, 2-2 3A Narrows)
Two weeks ago: #10 (+4)
Previous game: North Thurston 24, Shelton 6
Next game: @ North Thurston (4-3) – South Sound Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: The Rams snapped their three game skid against Shelton thanks to 121 yards and three touchdowns from Hayden Maliska. They didn’t look great doing so, but they did get the job done. They are still in the playoff hunt and are actually in pretty good shape despite sitting in fifth place. Even if they lose to Timberline, they get winless Mount Tahoma in the last game of the year and if Lincoln beats Foss on the final day, the Rams and Falcons would finish tied for the fourth and last spot with the Rams holding the tiebreaker. UPDATE: I was wrong. I forgot the Narrows has just three playoff spots this year. The Rams need to beat Timberline this week, for sure.
7. Black Hills (3-4, 1-2 2A EvCo)
Two weeks ago: #4 (-3)
Previous game: Capital 39, Black Hills 7
Next game: @ Centralia (2-5) – Tiger Stadium, Centralia – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Black Hills is still in the playoff hunt just a game behind third place Capital and likely will sit tied with the Cougars at 2-2 after this week. But the Cougars have the tiebreaker with their 39-7 win over the Wolves so it would take a massive, shocking upset in the Pioneer Bowl and Capital would have to lay an egg against River Ridge for Dominic Yarrington’s squad to see the postseason.
8. Olympia Bears (4-3, 2-2 4A Narrows)
Two weeks ago: #2 (-6)
Previous game: Gig Harbor 27, Olympia 21
Next game: @ Bellarmine (6-1) – Memorial Stadium, Tacoma – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Wow, speaking of upsets. The Bears season comes down to having to upset Bellarmine in Tacoma on Friday night. Even then, they would still need to beat Yelm in week nine and get some help to make the playoffs. Derrick Becker threw for over 300 yards in their loss to Gig Harbor but it wasn’t enough to overcome allowing 310 rushing yards to the Tides’ Sterling Brown.
9. River Ridge (4-3, 1-2 2A EvCo)
Two weeks ago: #8 (-1)
Previous game: WF West 44, River Ridge 21
Next game: @ Tumwater (7-0) – Tumwater Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: I guess somebody had to draw the short stick in the 2A EvCo and that just happens to be River Ridge. They played WF West last week, get Tumwater this week and finish with Capital on November 1st. They did play a really good first half against the Bearcats but couldn’t stop Tanner Gueller the rest of the way.
10. Yelm Tornadoes (3-4, 1-3 4A Narrows)
Two weeks ago: #9 (-1)
Previous game: Bellarmine 53, Yelm 14
Next game: @ Gig Harbor (6-1) – Roy Andersen Field, Gig Harbor – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Jason Ronquillo’s Tornadoes have struggled in the meat of the 4A Narrows League dropping three straight to the Kitsaps and Bellarmine and still have Gig Harbor and Olympia on the docket and easily could finish 1-5 in league play this season.
11. Rainier Mountaineers (1-6, 0-5 1A Evergreen)
Two weeks ago: #11 (No change)
Previous game: Hoquiam 46, Rainier 9
Next game: vs. Montesano (3-4) – Rainier HS – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Six straight losses for Rainier with an angry Montesano team coming to town this week and a trip to Vancouver to face Seton Catholic in their season finale. Still a much improved team over last season.
12. Shelton Highclimbers (0-7, 0-4 3A Narrows)
Two weeks ago: #12 (No change)
Previous game: North Thurston 24, Shelton 6
Next game: vs. Mount Tahoma (0-6) – Highclimber Stadium – Friday, 7:00 PM
Notes: Shelton played relatively tough against North Thurston, all things considered. That might be more of a comment on the Rams than the Highclimbers, though. Six offensive touchdowns all season long but that number could easily double this week against winless Mount Tahoma, who have scored just 12 points all year long.
Tie-13. Northwest Christian Navigators (0-0)/Pope John Paul II Eagles (0-0)
Two weeks ago: Unranked
Previous Navigators game: Pe Ell 55, Northwest Christian 6 (11/5/2011)
Previous Eagles game: Never played
Next games: Idle
Notes: I didn’t want to rank Shelton last for another week. Yes Northwest Christian has lost 12 straight games, but then again, they haven’t lost in nearly two years. PJPII will probably never lose a football game.
Saturday Afternoon Quarterback: Bears Reeling, Cougs Rolling; Beavs, Warriors on Collision Course; Toilet Bowl Set
—————
Capital 39, Black Hills 7
Gig Harbor 27, Olympia 21
The transfer of Derrick Becker to Olympia from Capital in the offseason links the the fate of these two teams this season and though Becker and the Bears got the better of the Cougars in the Spaghetti Bowl, it might be the burgundy and gold who gets the last laugh.
Despite throwing for over 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns, Becker’s Bears dropped their second straight 4A Narrows League game and fell to 2-2 in league and are on the verge of not making the playoffs. They have to win their next two games against league leading Bellarmine and then knock off Yelm in the finale and get some help along the way for their season to continue.
Meanwhile, thanks to a huge night by Jakob Racimo, Capital has now won three straight games after their 0-4 start and look to be the odds on favorite to take the third playoff spot in the 2A EvCo. They sit at 2-1 in conference play with WF West and River Ridge still on the schedule.
If Capital makes the playoffs and the Bears stay home, I’m sure that there will be plenty of Cougar fans/current players that will consider that poetic justice for a student that left their school for purely football reasons.
Tenino 26, Montesano 6
Rochseter 35, Forks 7
According to Brandon Hansen of The Chronicle, Tenino’s win over Montesano is their first win over the Bulldogs in 17 seasons. And with the win, the Beavers now sit at 3-1 in the 1A Evergreen Conference, a half game behind 4-1 Rochester. The whole thing has left a lot of people who follow the league closely scratching their heads.
If Tenino can knock off Hoquiam on Friday night, it will setup an intense regular season finale between the rival Beavers and Warriors with first place in conference on the line. Let’s hope for that to play out because a game between Rochester’s Tyler Yarber (270 yards and four touchdowns against Forks) and Tyler Gedney and Tenino’s Zack Chamberlain, Thomas Pier and Calvin Guzman with the Evergreen title on the line would be about as good as it gets. Get yourself to Tenino Stadium bright and early on November 1st if it all comes true.
Of course Elma still has a say in things. They also sit at 3-1 and would own the tiebreaker over Tenino if the two teams finished at 5-1 in conference. Rochester holds the tiebreaker over the Eagles thanks to their 49-14 win on October 4th.
Timberline 60, Mount Tahoma 0
North Thurston 24, Shelton 6
Timberline and North Thurston took care of business this weekend and set up a big rivalry game next week with just a game separating the two schools in the 3A Narrows League standings. The Rams sit at 2-2 in league while the Blazers are 3-1
But more importantly, Mount Tahoma and Shelton stayed winless on the season setting up the game of the year: T-Birds, Highclimbers. Friday. Highclimbers Stadium. Who will get off the schneid? We’ll have the game live for you on Newsradio 1030 AM KMAS, 104.1 FM and KMAS.com. Can’t wait!
