USARS Roller Derby National Championships

Oly Warriors (Men) 70, Tulsa 69
The Oly Rollers cruised to their second straight USARS Roller Derby National Championship today in Tulsa knocking off Port T’Orchard 163-26.
And the Oly Warriors made it a clean sweep for Olympia at the tournament with their 70-69 squeaker. The Warriors scored 13 points in the final jam of the bout to pull it out over Your Mom.

The Oly Rollers didn’t get the shutout like yesterday but they dominated Seattle’s Antagonist Roller Derby with a 124-18 win to advance to the USARS Roller Derby championship game in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Oly will take on Port T’Orchard at 3:00 PM Pacific Time for the title.
The Oly Warriors, the men’s side of the Oly Rollers, picked up two wins on Saturday, knocking off Tulsa 206-23 and Your Mom 53-44 in a bout that ended midway through the second half when Your Mom collected too many fouls and had too many player disqualified to continue. The Warriors will play Your Mom again on Sunday at 1:15 PM Pacific Time for the USARS title.

On Senior day at Evergreen Pitch, Seniors Greg Wolfe, Joseph Ademofe and Dyson Fowler each scored in their last career home game in Evergreen’s 3-1 win over Oregon Tech. Seniors Collin Harlow and Mauricio Sanchez split time in goal collecting four saves in the win. The win put a little bit of much needed distance between the Geoducks and the Hustlin’ Owls for the fourth and final playoff spot in the CCC. Evergreen hits the road for four conference games to close out the regular season.
Saint Martin’s scored three goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation to comeback from a 4-1 deficit and earn a double overtime, 4-4 draw with the University of Mary. All eight goals in the game were scored in the second half including a goal by the Saints’ Ivan Gonzalez in the 60th minute and goals by Dylan Gaydosh, Jake Zimmer and Luke Chouinard in the 80th, 82nd and 89th minutes respectively.

Evergreen will honor ten seniors on senior day at Evergreen Pitch. Collin Harlow, Mauricio Sanchez, Brady Espinoza, Greg Wolfe, Jeff Roland, Jack Fortune, Dyson Fowler, Mitch Treend, Joseph Ademofe and Brice Boum will all play their last home game beginning at 1:00 PM. It’s a battle for playoff position against Oregon Tech. The Geoducks are in fourth place in the CCC at 4-4-2 while the Hustlin’ Owls are just behind them at 4-5.

Molly Campbell, Gina Cardenas and Olympia High School grad Sammi Thompson will play in their last home game when Saint Martin’s faces Central Washington following the Saints men’s game. Senior day is scheduled to get underway at 2:45 PM.

The Oly Rollers shutout Odessa-Midland’s Tall City 310-0 in game one of the United States Roller Sports Roller Derby National Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Oly, the defending champions, moves on to play Seattle’s Antagonist Roller Derby on Saturday at 10:30 Pacific time.

Ethan Sumlin, Brice Boum and Dyson Fowler each scored in Evergreen’s 3-0 win over College of Idaho on Friday afternoon at Evergreen Pitch. Mauricio Sanchez made three saves to earn the shutout and the Geoducks moved into fourth place in the conference at 4-4-2.

Kyle Calhoun hit eight three pointers and finished with 34 points in Evergreen’s 92-87 opening day win over the University of British Columbia-Okanagan in Kamloops, BC. KJ Hong scored 25 points by hitting six three pointers of his own while Michael Potter added 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Victoria Love collected 22 kills, Kelsey Delagrange had 40 assists and Brittany Covert made eight blocks in Evergreen’s four set win over Oregon Tech at the CRC Gymnasium. The Geoducks are now 4-14 overall and 3-10 in the CCC, just the second time they have won three or more games in conference since 2007.

Jake Henry rushed for 120 yards and four touchdowns and Brian Nault added a pair of rushing touchdowns in the third quarter to lead the Shelton Highclimbers to their first win of the season, a 42-0 romp over Mount Tahoma at Highclimbers Stadium in Shelton.
Henry did all of his damage on 12 rushes in the first half and carried just one more time the rest of the way. Nault went for 61 yards on seven carries and Gordon Henry amassed 57 yards as the Highclimbers racked up over 285 yards of rushing on the night.
The T-Birds have scored just 12 points all season and lost their top running back midway through the second quarter when Gregg Williams came up lame and was caught from behind on a 67 yard scamper. The T-Birds never seriously threatened again thanks to Nault’s eight tackles for loss.
Before tonight, the Highclimbers had scored just 44 points total. After nearly doubling their points for the season, they are now 1-7 overall and 1-4 in the 3A Narrows League. Meanwhile, Mount Tahoma dropped to 0-8.

CJ Chu and Rene Caro scored goals in the 37th and 61st minutes respectively and Saint Martin’s held on to knock off the Sound Dakota School of Mines 2-1 at SMU Soccer Field. Eric Owens made four saves in goal for the Saints, who sit in fourth place in the GNAC at 5-4-1 in conference play.

Seattle Pacific 3, Saint Martin’s 2 – Recap
Concordia 4, Evergreen 0 – Recap
Kellie Bannerman’s second goal of the game less than a minute into the second half gave the Saints a 2-0 lead over Seattle Pacific but couldn’t hold the Falcons over the final 44 minutes and fell 3-2 at Interbay Stadium in Seattle. Bannerman’s goals were the eighth and the ninth goals of the season for the freshman from Ferndale. The Saints fell to 3-8 in GNAC play.
Evergreen played the #1 team in the nation tough for 57 minutes but surrendered four goals in the second half to fall 4-0 to Concordia. The Geoducks were outshot 28-0 on the evening.
