PHOTO GALLERY: Pruett and Hess Lead Bears to 3-2 Win Over Wolves

Tied at two with 15 minutes to play, Olympia keeper Brandon Pruett made a difficult save on a South Kitsap penalty shot and on the ensuing Bears possession, Ian Hess raced up the right side and unleashed a rocket from just outside the box that found the back of the net and proved to be the game winning goal in Oly’s 3-2 4A Narrows League win at Ingersoll Stadium.

Hess opened the scoring for Olympia with a goal in the seventh minute but the Wolves would answer back midway through the first half with a goal of their own. Jamison Corbin put the Bears back up in the 33rd minute when he gathered a pass and fired a strike into the right side of the net to give them a 2-1 lead that they would take into the locker room.

Pruett entered the game at the half after a solid first 40 minutes by Bears’ starting keeper Davin Johnson. South Kitsap evened the game up with a goal in the 51st minute and controlled possession for much of the second half but couldn’t get anything past the Oly defense the rest of the way including the penalty shot that Pruett snuffed out. The all or nothing nature of the Bears offense paid off with Hess’ rush down the field that ran their record to 5-2-2 in the 4A Narrows League.

Oly faces league leading Gig Harbor (7-1-0) on Wednesday night at Ingersoll Stadium.
