Today (9/23): First Place Geoducks Men Hosts CCC Favorite Corban

The first place Evergreen Geoducks host Corban, the unanimous choice to win the Cascade Conference in the preseason poll, at Geoducks Pitch this afternoon. Corban enters the game at 0-1-1 in the CCC and are 2-3-1 overall.

Saturday Scores: Geoducks Blank Eagles To Stay Unbeaten in CCC

Men’s Soccer

Angel Guerra made five saves in a shutout of previously unbeaten Northwest University and Juan Lopez scored what proved to be the game winner in the 70th minute to lead Evergreen to a 2-0 Cascade Conference win at Geoduck Pitch. The win moved the Geoducks to 2-0 in the CCC and handed Northwest their first loss of the year and a 1-1 conference record. Willie Spurr scored an insurance goal in the 78th minute for Evergreen.

Sunny De Boer made eight saves and Abby McFaul scored the equalizer in the 62nd minute and Saint Martin’s and Montana-State Billings went scoreless in overtime to end in a 1-1 draw at the Saint Martin’s soccer field. Combined with the men’s soccer loss later on Saturday, the two Saint Martin’s soccer programs remain winless this season.

Unfortunately, Trinity Lutheran played just nine players and Evergreen took advantage with a 6-0 win at Geoducks Pitch. The Katie Hebein and Amy Bromley each scored a pair of goals in the non-conference game.

Olympia grad Lexi Fesenbek scored a goal and added an assist in Northwest Nazarene’s 3-1 win over Saint Martin’s in the GNAC opener for both teams. Kelli Bannerman pulled the Saints level in the 36th minute at 1-1 but Fesenbek scored what proved to be the game winner just three minutes later.

Tuesday Scores: Geoducks Men’s Soccer Comes Back in CCC Opener

Men’s Soccer

Nate Boatright tied the game at 2-2 in the 86th minute and Ethan Sumlin scored the game winner a minute later to lead Evergreen to a late 3-2 Cascade Conference opener win over the College of Idaho. Angel Guerra made six saves in goal for the Geoducks, who won their first game of the season.

Seattle Pacific made short work of Saint Martin’s, sweeping past the Saints in three sets in the GNAC opener for both squads. The Saints had a chance in the second set rallying back to 24-24 before the Falcons finally finished them off. Brenna Peterson led the Saints with 16 assists.

College Volleyball

Evergreen notched their tenth win of the season by racking up 10 service aces in a three set sweep of Pacific Lutheran at the CRC Gymnasium on Wednesday night. Brandee Victorino notched six aces and 13 kills and Jaclyn Trinque made 31 assists to make quick work of the Lutes, the 11th ranked NCAA Division III team. The Geoducks return to CCC play with home games against Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho on Friday and Saturday.

Hanna and Jenna Killman each scored a hat trick in Olympia’s 8-1 dismantling of Capital in the opening game of the season for both teams. Nicole Fesbeck and Tea Effland were the only non-Killmans that scored for the Bears.
