College volleyball
Evergreen vs. Concordia – CRC Gymnasium – 7:00 PM
After breaking a two year losing streak on the road, the Angela Spoja led Evergreen volleyball team makes their official home debut tonight in a Cascade Conference game against Concordia. The Geoducks were picked to finish last in the CCC but look to be much improved. Concordia is 4-2 this season and were picked to finish fourth in the conference.

Saint Martin’s 3, Academy of Arts 1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-16, 25-17) – Box
The Saint Martin’s volleyball season kicked off with a 3-1 win over the Academy of Art at the Otter Classic at Cal State-Monterey Bay. Kristyn Ross racked up 10 kills and 12 digs, Kyra Davidson led the Saints with 16 kills, Halee Hernandez had 20 digs and Candice Pedroza added 16 assists. It is only the second opening match win for the Saints in the past six years.
The Saints play once more today, taking on Dominican University of California at 3:00 PM.

The soccer season at Saint Martin’s gets underway for real today when they host a men’s and women’s doubleheader beginning at 3:00 PM. The men welcome fellow NCAA Division II squad Chico State to town. The Wildcats were 9-3-6 last season and will pose a tough test for the Saints. Another tough test for the Saints comes at 5:30 PM when the women play host to the NAIA Division II’s 5th ranked Concordia Cavaliers. Olympia High School grad Olivia Brock has played in all three of Concordia’s games at goalkeeper. The freshman has made two starts and has given up just one goal in 200 minutes and may get the start in her hometown today. The Cavaliers are 3-0 and have outscored their opponents 11-1. SPSCC 3, Wenatchee Valley 0 – box score
Alex Nunez scored twice in the first half and Cody Wilkes recorded his second shutout to lead South Puget Sound to a 3-0 win over Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday morning in an NWAACC friendly at the Starfire Complex in Tukwila.
Jairo Cisneros scored an insurance goal in the second half as the Clippers ran their record to 2-0 in the early going of the season.
SPSCC 2, Rogue CC 0 – Box score
The SPSCC men’s soccer team opened up the 2013 season with a 2-0 win over Rogue Community College in an NWAACC friendly at the Starfire complex in Tukwila. Taylor Weatherly got the Clippers on the board in the 90th minute and Mike Rancipher added an insurance goal in stoppage time. Goalkeeper Cody Wilkes made four saves.
College volleyball
Evergreen 3, Montana Western 1 (25-13, 22-25, 25-17, 25-22)
Angela Spoja picked up her first win as head coach of The Evergreen State College volleyball program with a four set victory over Montana Western in the Geoducks’ final game at the Cascade/Frontier Challenge in Spokane. It was the program’s first win in 52 matches dating back to October 30th, 2010.
Natimia Barker-Doss had 41 assists and 10 digs and Cassidy Watkins and Victoria Love each racked up 15 kills to lead Evergreen to the win.
