Today (10/1): Geoducks battle Concordia in CCC title game rematch

GeoducksTrinity_34

Men’s soccer

Evergreen vs. Concordia – South Sound Stadium – 7:00 PM

The big game tonight features the two teams that finished 1-2 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference last season and were picked to finish 1-2 in the CCC this season. However, both schools suffered shocking upset losses in the early going of the conference schedule and currently sit in second and fourth place. Concordia fell to Northwest 3-2 while the Geoducks traveled to Klamath Falls and were drilled 3-1 by Oregon Tech.

Nothing has come easy for Evergreen. They are 2-1-1 in the CCC and both wins were by just one goal including a double overtime win over Warner Pacific. Sophomore Willie Spurr leads the Geoducks with four goals in all games while senior Jeff Roland has scored a pair of goals.

On the other hand, since the #16 ranked Cavaliers lost to Northwest, they have taken it out on their opponents scoring 18 goals while allowing just two. Senior forward Septi Danciu has been ridiculous scoring seven goals and assisting on six more and their other senior forward, Michael Chamberlain, is right there with him with seven goals and three assists.

First kick is scheduled for 7:00 PM at South Sound Stadium. The game was moved to Lacey because of the massive amount of rain this week has made Evergreen Pitch unplayable, not to mention the roof of the tin shed will make it a much more enjoyable place to watch the game.

How Not To Tweet 2: The Greensickening

Since I posted my first How Not To Tweet posts, my Twitter friendo with the mostest and 2013 graduate of a local high school that will be playing baseball at an NWAACC school this spring has been tweeting ridiculously stupid things up a storm, to the point of absurdity. It actually has become morbidly entertaining. This is really, really how not to tweet.

First up, the consequences of his big drunk Saturday night from the last post…

coach

Weed, weed, weed…

drugs

My use of Urban Dictionary and my Googling of weed terms is up by well over 100%…

knifers

I will admit, I’m learning a lot…

kindanappy

These tweets make me wonder about his storied high school baseball program…

w&b

Google reminded me that this is from a Dr. Dre and Eminem song. Apparently I had forgotten about Dre. Still…

violence

Man, is he repellent. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

This is yet another reminder, nothing you do online is private. His account is locked but I followed him before he locked it so I still see all of his updates.

I’m not outing this athlete because I don’t think it is my place to do so, especially since he thinks his account is private. He will eventually out himself to his athletic department or coaches, I’m sure. I’m just using him as a cautionary tale.

It is also important to mention that recreational marijuana use is legal in the state of Washington and it doesn’t appear that the NWAACC has drug testing. Perhaps the college he attends does, I can’t tell in a simple Google search.

I’m not being a prude, I know college kids are going to drink and smoke weed, it happens (though his use seems excessive. If it were anything other than weed, you’d be looking at someone that would be considered a drug addict). But you shouldn’t tweet these kinds of things, legal or not, athlete or not. It’s just stupid and will have a negative effect on your life, probably more than the drugs will.

Her name happens to be Bella, she knows a lot about vampires and she picked Forks to win.

Bad news. Because of my trip to San Diego and a very busy morning trying to get the kids out of the house, I neglected to get Addie’s football picks this week. But never fear, my friend’s nine year old daughter has her picks for this week’s games.

Here is the full schedule for today and tomorrow’s football games including radio information…
