ChristmasPioneerI kind of love this silly graphic I made for the Tumwater Pioneers last year, so I decided to use it again this year despite the untimely demise of the Pios.

How Not To Tweet 3: A November to Remember

Oh boy, I hate to have to do these posts but I think it is important to point out that even if you think what you are posting on Twitter is private, it isn’t.

All of these tweets come from a 2013 local high school graduate who will be playing sports at an NWAACC community college. I’m not outing his name or school, though I easily could, but using this as a warning to others to think about what you tweet. I followed him before he protected his account so I was grandfathered into still seeing his tweets.

I’m not even really upset about the drugs, I think weed makes you boring and stupid but I don’t think it is particularly dangerous. But none of these tweets from an 18-19 year old paint a very good picture and reflect poorly on him, his high school program, his current college program and are generally repulsive and could negatively affect his life if his current coach, athletic department, future coaches or employers or less non-narc-y media types see them.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s start out with a doozie. No doubt about this one…

Monday Scoreboard: Saints Streak to Exhibition Win

Women’s basketball
Saint Martin’s 63, Puget Sound 52 – Recap

Chelsea Haskey scored 22 points and hauled in seven rebounds and Jordyn Richardson hit three three pointers in the second half and Saint Martin’s erased a one point deficit at the half to take a 63-52 decision over the University of Puget Sound in an exhibition game at Marcus Pavilion.

Richardson’s three pointer at the 12 minute mark capped off a 22-4 run to open the second half that gave the Saints a 49-32 lead. Haskey scored eight points during the run and Angela Gelhar, Jori Skorpik, Brooke Paulson and Richardson each hit threes in that span.

The Loggers went on a 15-2 run over the next eight minutes and closed the deficit to just four at 51-47 when Erin Stumbaugh hit a three pointer with 6:32 remaining. But Richardson answered with her second three of the half to stretch the lead to seven and gave the Saints an 11 point lead on her third three with 2:52 left to play and the Loggers never threatened again.

Krista Stabler scored 10 points on the night, including eight points in the first half that helped erase an early 10 point lead by the Loggers. Paulson finished with eight points and five boards and Ciara Pedroni pulled down six rebounds for the Saints.

Erin Stumbaugh and Amanda Forshay scored 11 and 10 points respectively for UPS.
