College volleyball
Evergreen vs. Concordia – CRC Gymnasium – 7:00 PM
After breaking a two year losing streak on the road, the Angela Spoja led Evergreen volleyball team makes their official home debut tonight in a Cascade Conference game against Concordia. The Geoducks were picked to finish last in the CCC but look to be much improved. Concordia is 4-2 this season and were picked to finish fourth in the conference.

Saint Martin’s 3, Academy of Arts 1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-16, 25-17) – Box
The Saint Martin’s volleyball season kicked off with a 3-1 win over the Academy of Art at the Otter Classic at Cal State-Monterey Bay. Kristyn Ross racked up 10 kills and 12 digs, Kyra Davidson led the Saints with 16 kills, Halee Hernandez had 20 digs and Candice Pedroza added 16 assists. It is only the second opening match win for the Saints in the past six years.
The Saints play once more today, taking on Dominican University of California at 3:00 PM.
College volleyball
Evergreen 3, Montana Western 1 (25-13, 22-25, 25-17, 25-22)
Angela Spoja picked up her first win as head coach of The Evergreen State College volleyball program with a four set victory over Montana Western in the Geoducks’ final game at the Cascade/Frontier Challenge in Spokane. It was the program’s first win in 52 matches dating back to October 30th, 2010.
Natimia Barker-Doss had 41 assists and 10 digs and Cassidy Watkins and Victoria Love each racked up 15 kills to lead Evergreen to the win.

Olympia quarterback Derrick Becker won his appeal to play football for the Bears this season after originally being ruled ineligible by school administrators. The senior transferred from Capital during the summer. The contentious transfer makes the Spaghetti Bowl even more interesting this season. Mark your calendars for September 13th. – Link
