Saint Martin’s 64, Cal Baptist 55 – Box score
Evergreen 63, Linfield 56 – Recap
Chelsea Haskey recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead Saint Martin’s to a streaky 64-55 win over Cal Baptist at Marcus Pavilion.
Haskey opened the scoring with a three pointer at the 17:42 mark of the first half and the Saints never trailed again. The Lancers cut the lead to two once in the second half when Chanel Cambronero’s three cut the Saints lead to 16-14 with just under ten minutes left in the half. But SMU went on a 16-8 run and the half ended with the Saints up 32-22.
Megan Wiedeman stepped out to hit from downtown and the Saints opened up a 15 point lead with just four minutes gone in the second half. But the Lancers finally found some energy when they switched to a full court press and went on an 18-6 run capped off by Kamille Diaz’s free throw that cut the Saints lead to three at 47-44.
But Saint Martin’s weathered the storm and went on a 14-3 run of their own over the next seven minutes and never looked back to record their second win of the season, 64-55.
Krista Stabler scored 10 points off the bench and Angela Gelhar scored eight points, all from the free throw line, for the Saints.
Both teams shot an identical 19-of-61 (31.1%) from the floor but the Saints made 22 free throws while Cal Baptist made just 11 of their 20 attempts.
Diaz and Elise Shelton each scored 15 points for the Lancers.

I don’t cover high school cross country or other individual sports regularly. It’s a decision that had to be made based on time and information considerations. But, I’d be remiss if I didn’t at least mention that the Northwest Christian girls cross country team won their eighth straight 2B state championship this week. Ben Zimmerman, freelancing for the The Olympian, has the story.
