Evergreen’s Heuer Steps Down
Yesterday, Evergreen announced that Monica Heuer will leave her position as head coach of the women’s basketball team after the season and move into a full-time administrative position with the athletics department. Heuer has been the coach at Evergreen for 13 seasons and has a 108-255 record in that time.
This year they are in the middle of one of their best seasons in program history at 11-10 overall and 7-7 in the CCC. They could clinch a playoff spot this weekend and could potentially host a playoff game. They are looking to finish with just their second winning record since the program started in 1997.
The new coach will be just the third coach in program history. Rick Harden was the first coach at Evergreen and went 13-95 in four seasons.

2B District IV playoffs (double-elimination)
Northwest Christian vs. Adna – Rochester HS – 6:30 PM
High school basketball playoffs get underway today when the Northwest Christian girls travel to Rochester to take on Adna in a 2B District IV playoff game at 6:30. The Navigators finished the regular season at 5-7 in the 2B Pacific while Adna went 10-5 in the 2B Central. The winner will face Willapa Valley on Saturday while the loser will have to wait until Monday to play again.
The game can be heard live on the Eli Sports Network.
Boys basketball
Timberline vs. Lincoln – Timberline HS – 7:00 PM
With Donaven Dorsey back for the Blazers, tonight’s game against Lincoln should be an interesting test to see where this Timberline team is going into the postseason and an important game for seeding into districts.
The Blazers sit at 7-4 in the 3A Narrows, a game ahead of Foss for the #3 seed. The Falcons are 6-5 and likely will beat Mount Tahoma tonight. A Foss win and a Timberline loss would set up a tiebreaker between the two schools on Friday night at Stadium for the #3 seed to districts. If the Blazers beat Lincoln, they would claim the #3 seed and avoid the tiebreaker game on Friday.
Lincoln brings a super talented team to town that are 10-1 in the Narrows and added Cal commit Ahmad Rorie back to their program when he won an appeal to play after leaving Montverde Academy in Florida. The two teams met on January 17th and the Abes down the Blazers 65-38 on their home court.
