Tuesday Scores: Sanders Perfect in Clippers Win

Timberline alum Elijah Sanders had a perfect night going 9-of-9 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the free throw line to lead South Puget Sound with 20 points in a 104-83 win over Concordia University’s JV basketball team.  Sanders also pulled down five rebounds and collected four blocks.

Nick Springer almost matched Sanders perfection going 5-of-6 from the floor including a perfect 3-of-3 from behind the the three point line and a pair of free throws for 15 points. The Clippers shot 59% from the field on the night. D’Ron Kyle (12 points) and Jonathan Roberts (11) also scored in double digits in the win.

Brent Counts scored 12 points and Trey Ingram, Ryan Rogers and Tyler Copp each added 11 to give Saint Martin’s a 73-72 road win over Concordia on Saturday night. Copp hit a pair of free throws with four seconds left to give the Saints a four point win and seal the win despite a last second three pointer by the Cavaliers. It was the first loss of the season for Concordia, who beat the Saints 85-68 on November 18th.

Krista Stabler and Liz Mills each scored 15 points but the Saints couldn’t hold off the #6 team in the nation in a 72-59 loss to the University of Tampa at the Lynda Goodrich Classic at Western Washington University. Brooke Paulson chipped in nine points and led the Saints with seven rebounds in the loss.

Ian Saner scored the first three touchdowns for Tumwater and Griffin Shea punched in the final TD but Elijah Hill missed the ensuing PAT and Sedro-Wooley blocked a last second 41 yard field goal to hold on to a 28-27 win over the T-Birds in the 2A state semifinals at the Tacoma Dome. The T-Birds finished the season at 12-1, one game short of another rematch with Lynden in the title game.

The bigs for Saint Martin’s – Tyler Idowu, Cameron Chatwin and Brent Counts – each had career games leading the Saints to their first win of the season, 82-69 over George Fox on Wednesday night at Marcus Pavilion.

Idowu led the way for the Saints with a career high 17 points and tied a career high with seven rebounds while Chatwin (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Counts (12 points, 9 rebounds) each set career highs in both points and boards. Ryan Rogers scored 12 points and Riley Carel added 10. Trey Ingram added his own career high dishing out eight assists.

Lewis-Clark State shot 73.3% from the floor and seven warriors scored in double-digits in their 111-93 win over Evergreen on Wednesday afternoon at the CRC Gymnasium. Jordan Dam scored 24 points and Kortney Darby added 23 points for the Geoducks in the loss.

Brittany Gray and Sadee Jones combined for 38 points and 20 rebounds in Evergreen’s 79-58 win over New Hope Christian on Tuesday night. Jones recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards and Gray went for 20 and 9 in a game that saw five Geoducks score in double digits. Evergreen moved to 4-0 this season.

Alix Hernandez scored 17 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out six assists in Evergreen’s 112-71 rout of New Hope Christian at the CRC Gymnasium. Kortney Darby led the Geoducks with 19 points and four other Geoducks scored in double digits. Evergreen dished out 31 assists on 45 baskets and shot 60% from the floor.

Evergreen’s Kortney Darby scored 20 points and Alix Hernandez added 11 but Northwest University went on a 20-7 run over the final seven minutes to pull away from the Geoducks 79-64 in a non-conference basketball game against a conference opponent. Tomas Ogbaslassie scored 22 points in the win for the Eagles.
