Riley Carel scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half to lead Saint Martin’s to a 66-65 win over Montana State-Billings on New Years Day in Billings.
The Saints never trailed after Carel tied the game at 3-3 with 15:06 left in the first half and they built a 12 point lead in the first half. Montana State-Billings tied the game with 5:04 left to play but Tyler Idowu’s layup with 3:41 left broke the tie and gave the Saints the lead for good.
Tyler Copp and Isaac Bianchini each added nine points in the win and the Saints moved to 2-1 in GNAC play.

Elijah Sanders went for 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead the South Puget Sound men’s basketball team to an 80-76 win over Spokane CC in the championship game of the Dale Bates Tournament at Lane Community College. De’Ron Kyle added 17 points and seven boards and Nick Springer chipped in 11 points for the Clippers. SPSCC won three straight games in the tournament knocking off Umpqua and New Hope Christian on Friday and Saturday en route to the title.

Saint Martin’s held Concordia’s top two scorers to just eight frustrating points and pulled away in the second half to secure a 52-42 win over future GNAC member Concordia on Sunday afternoon. The Saints were led by 10 points from Liz Mills. Megan Wiedeman pulled down 14 rebounds in the win. Neither team shot well from the floor at all with the Saints posting a 37% mark and Concordia hitting at just 31.4%.

Sadee Jones and LaNiecia Weatherspoon each scored 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in Evergreen’s 80-53 win over PLU in Parkland on Saturday night. Randi Boseman and Brittany Gray each chipped in 14 points and the four players combined for 70 of the Geoducks’ 80 points. PLU shot just 25.4% from the floor in the loss.

ARLINGTON, Wash. – The Oly Town Artesians scored three goals in less than two minutes in the fourth quarter and Matt Stalnik’s strike with 12.5 seconds left broke a 6-6 tie and handed the Artesians a 7-6 win over the Arlington Aviators in Western Indoor Soccer League action on Saturday night. Wille Spurr and Greg Wolfe each recorded a brace and the Artesians moved into sole possession of second place in the WISL with the win.
