Today (2/22): Saints Need a Win; Regionals or Bust for Hawks, T-Birds and Wolves
Women’s basketball
Saint Martin’s vs. Montana State-Billings – Marcus Pavilion – 7:00 PM
Still needing at least one win in their last three games to qualify for the GNAC tournament, the Saint Martin’s women play host to the top team in the GNAC and the #1 ranked team in the West, Montana State-Billings, tonight at 7:00 PM. The Saints probably gave their most disappointing effort on Thursday night against Seattle Pacific and have lost six of their last nine games after a 5-1 start to conference play.
Girls basketball
2A District IV consolation final – Winner to regionals/loser-out
River Ridge vs. Black Hills – Capital HS – 6:00 PM
The two best girls basketball teams in the Olympia area meet tonight at Capital High School with just one regionals berth available. Either Black Hills or River Ridge will have their season come to an end. The two teams split their season series: the Wolves won 62-61 in the first game on a buzzer beater in the first game while the Hawks dominated game two.
Boys basketball
3A WCD/Bi-District 3rd/4th place game – Both to regionals
Timberline vs. Foss – Clover Park HS, Lakewood – 6:00 PM
Both Timberline and Foss have already qualified for regionals but the two teams that tied for third place in the 3A Narrows will battle for seeding tonight in the 3rd/4th place game at Clover Park High School.
2A District IV consolation final – Winner to regionals/loser-out
River Ridge vs. Tumwater – Capital HS – 7:45 PM
After dropping their opening round district game, Tumwater has survived loser-out games twice to make the consolation final. They face another loser-out game tonight against River Ridge, who survived by taking down Centralia on Thursday. The Hawks won the first meeting between the two teams, 61-54, but the T-Birds took their second meeting on the last day of the regular season, 78-69.
