Oly Town Artesians Indoor Soccer Debuts This Fall
I am excited to announce this new venture…
TUMWATER, Wash. – Semi-professional indoor soccer will return to the Olympia area for the 2014-2015 season when the Oly Town Artesians take the field at Olympia Indoor Soccer as a founding member of the Western Indoor Soccer League. The inaugural season for the Artesians and the WISL will kick off in November.
Tim Smith, owner and operator of Olympia Indoor Soccer in Tumwater, and OlySports.com and Oly Town FC founder Brandon Sparks have teamed up and purchased a team in the locally operated WISL. Sparks has been named General Manager and will lead the operations side of the Artesians.
“Thanks to Tim Smith and Olympia Indoor Soccer, I’m excited to bring fast-paced, up-tempo soccer action and fun, affordable family entertainment back to town,” said Sparks, who volunteered as the communications and marketing manager for the Tumwater Pioneers indoor soccer team during their lone season in 2012-2013.

Capital (11-12) knocked off the GSHL’s regular season champ and then pulled another upset by beating Tumwater to make it to the state tourney. Now they face the Olympic League’s regular season champion and District 3 runners-up, Sequim. The Wolves are 19-4 overall. The winner plays Lynden or Ellensburg at 4:00 and the loser plays the loser of that game at 2:00.

Two masterful regionals pitching performances from Garrett Terrell and Elijah Hill sent Tumwater into the state semifinals today where they will face Lake Washington. The T-Birds (22-4) get a Kangs team that is 16-9 overall but have won six straight and outscored their opponents in the postseason 35-6. They mercy ruled both of their regionals opponents, North Kitsap and Archbishop Murphy, and are led by John Lyon both on the mound and at the plate.
The winner gets Anacortes or Ellensburg in the finals on Saturday at 4:00 PM. The loser will play in the 3rd/4th place game at 10:00 AM.

Can you help me bring the Tall Boys to Oly Town?
The EPLWA season is nearly ready to kick off and Olympia will be absent from the inaugural season. Emmett O’Connell at Olympia Time laments this fact and asks the question, “What is it about Olympia that has prevented anyone from coming forward with a team?” There are some barriers to entry that I have found, but it does surprise me that I’m the only one in town to seriously think about founding a team.
Here is my original plea for help. There have been some good developments since then and some setbacks but Oly Town FC is still a possibility at some point in the future…
Today the Evergreen Premier League announced the seventh team accepted to the startup semi-pro soccer league slated to begin play in 2014. The Spokane Shadow joined Bellingham United, South Sound FC (Tacoma), Wenatchee United, Seattle Stars (Tukwila), WestSound FC (Silverdale) and FC Three Rivers (Tri-Cities) as inaugural members of the EPLWA and the league has suggested that there is a very good chance that they will cap the number of teams for the first season at eight instead of the previous 10 expected teams due to scheduling concerns and to keep the quality of the organizations high.
One area of the state that the EPLWA wanted to target was Olympia but no group has come forward and applied for entry to the league. I have been working to put together a bid and secure some financing but talks with an existing organization to take their team to the next level…
