In game two, four Western Oregon runs in the third inning was all the first place Wolves ultimately needed to drop the Saints to 9-23 overall and 5-9 in the GNAC.

Today (4/2): Spring break baseball

It’s going to be a slow high school sports week around here with Spring break upon us, but there are still some games to be played, mostly on the diamond. Three baseball games on the schedule today and it looks like the weather will cooperate:

Capital @ Timberline – 4:00 PM
Olympic @ River Ridge – 4:00 PM
Stadium @ Olympia – 4:00 PM

Friday scoreboard: Saints softball extends streak; Blazers, Cougars, Bears win

In a battle of father versus son, the son (Bryce Winkler) got the better of the father (Bryan Winkler) as Olympia beat Tumwater in a shootout. Regulation ended tied 1-1 and Duncan Urban scored the deciding goal to give the Bears a 5-4 shootout victory. Devon Parman opened the scoring for the Beats with a goal in the 38th minute and Bradley Saner got the equalizer with just 2:48 left in regulation. Oly managed to keep the T-Birds’ Kevin Weyand off the board before he opened the shootout with a goal.

High school baseball

Black Hills braved the weather but perhaps wished they hadn’t. The Bearcats jumped out to a 9-0 lead before the Wolves got on the board with a run in the bottom of the sixth.

Today (3/30): Rain, rain go away

20120330-100025.jpg
Wet fields and rain in the forecast have forced most bat and ball games to be canceled today. There is enough of a break that a few games may be played but I’ll be honest, I have no idea who is still planning on playing. Check the @OlySportsBlog Twitter account for updated information.

In all-weather soccer action, Capital hosts Yelm in a 3A Narrows League contest at Ingersoll Stadium. Remember, Ingersoll’s seating area is still closed so if you go to the game, bring a chair and an umbrella. Or better yet, a canopy. First kick is at 7:00 PM.

Or if you’d like to stay nice and dry, head over to Tumwater Stadium and watch Tumwater and Kevin Weyand take on Olympia in non-league action. First kick is at 7:00 PM and you can listen to all the action from home or almost any mobile device by going to the Eli Sports Network.

Thursday scoreboard: Weyand, T-Birds stay undefeated

Boys soccer

Tumwater 4, Aberdeen 1
River Ridge 3, W.F. West 2
Centralia 3, North Thurston 1
Bellarmine 2, Olympia 0

Tumwater improved to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in the 2A EvCo behind two Kevin Weyand goals, his 10th and 11th of the season. Austin Snyder scored the only goal of the first half before the two teams combined for four in the second half including Weyand’s two and one from Kile Lenher.

Centralia jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and without the services of Nick Salazar, other than a Bin Hasan goal in the 25th minute, North Thurston was unable to close the gap.

Wallace, Carras, Weber named all-state

Three Olympia area basketball players were named first team all-state and two were given an honorable mention today by the Associated Press…

First team

Brad Wallace – River Ridge – junior
Sasha Weber – Timberline – senior

Honorable mention

Cami Bates – Northwest Christian – senior
Landon Rushton – North Thurston – senior

The Olympian has the full list of honorees.

Tonight (3/29): Soccer plays on

I’m not even going to bother giving you the baseball and fastpitch schedule for today since there is little chance anybody will play and you probably wouldn’t want to go to a game even if they did.

But soccer plays on despite this ridiculous weather, and tonight features a big game in the 2A EvCo when Tumwater plays host to Aberdeen. The Bobcats have won the league title for six consecutive seasons but are 3-2 in conference play this season. Meanwhile, the T-Birds come into the game at 5-0 overall and 4-0 in conference and are led by German exchange student Kevin Weyand’s nine goals. First kick at Tumwater Stadium is scheduled for 7:00 PM

River Ridge is also in action across town tonight when they host W.F. West at South Sound Stadium at 7:00 PM.

Wednesday scoreboard: Bears remain undefeated, Wolves beat Hawks

I have to admit, these pictures did not turn out all that well. Still trying to learn my new lens and camera. Pictures will get better, I promise.
