8:00 AM start? No problem for the Saint Martin’s softball team as they knocked off CSU-San Bernardino 8-0 in the first game of the Tournament of Champions in Turlock, California. Madi Davis went 2-for-3 and drove in four runs for the Saints. Sam Munger got the win, her eleventh of the season, giving up just one hit over three innings
In game two, the Saints took on their toughest opponent of the season, #9 Humboldt State, winners of 18 straight games. Davis scored the winning run on an error by the Lumberjacks first baseman giving the Saints the 5-4 upset win. Dani Wall went 2-for-3 with four RBI including the tying run in the 5th inning. Bakos picked up her tenth win of the season in relief of Munger.

The South Puget Sound softball team played their first home games and league games in two years today falling to Highline 15-3 and 9-7 in doubleheader action at The RAC. Celena Edwards hit her first collegiate home run in game one and Jordanne Krumpols hit another homer in game two for the Clippers.

Tyler Ridgeway allowed just one hit over six innings in North Thurston’s 14-1 victory over Wilson. In the last five 3A Narrows League games, the Rams have outscored the three Tacoma schools 67-2 and have given up just five hits.

Nikki Schroeder went 3-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs and Brianna Bell hit a two run homer in Olympia’s 14-0 win over Foss. Maddy Stensby went three innings to pick up the win as the Bears held the Falcons hitless.

Former Puget Sound Collegiate Leaguer Collin Nilson drove in the winning run in the 12th inning of game one and hit a solo home run in game two as PLU swept Saint Martin’s in a non-conference doubleheader in Parkland. With the 5-4 and 12-1 losses, the Saints drop to 3-29 overall this season.
Chandler Tracy hit home runs in each game and now leads the Saints with 11 homers this season, the only Saint to even touch double digits in the long ball category, and leads the team with 20 RBI. Bobby Twedt went 3-for-6 in game one and tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI single in the eighth and temporarily gave the Saints the 4-2 lead in the tenth inning.

Ryan Mets struck out 14 and gave up just two hits over six innings and North Thurston continued their dominance of Tacoma schools with an 11-0 win. The Rams have outscored Lincoln and Foss over their last four Narrows League games 53-1 and have given up just four hits in four games.

Dominique Greeno hit another home run for North Thurston, her sixth of the season, to lead the Rams to a 13-1 win over Stadium in Tacoma. Sierra Davis went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs in the win.
Megan Porche hit three homers as Timberline hung 10 runs in the first inning and 13 runs in the second on Foss in their 23-0 win in Lacey.

Today (3/30): Saints softball hosts NAIA #10 squad; Rams hope to continue amazing week; Budd Bay Rugby
Despite the beautiful weather, it is a light day of sports here in the Olympia area. Just a handful of games on the docket including the streaking Saint Martin’s softball team, North Thurston baseball and Budd Bay Rugby.
The Saint Martin’s softball team looks for their 20th win of the season today when they face the NAIA’s Corban University in doubleheader action at 12:00 PM at the campus softball field. The Saints are 19-9 this season and are coming off a non-conference sweep of the NAIA’s #24 ranked Concordia yesterday. Today they face a #10 ranked Corban squad that is riding a 17 game win streak.
Also at 1:00 PM, the North Thurston baseball squad takes on Sumner in non-conference action. The Rams have had quite the week against the Tacoma schools knocking off Lincoln and Foss by a combined 42-1 allowing just two hits in three games.
And finally, at Rainier Vista Park, a day of rugby kicks off at 10:00 AM with Budd Bay Barbarians and Steelheads youth squad games leading up to the Budd Bay Buffaloes men’s squad game against the Battleground Bulls at 1:45 PM.

Christina Demar’s three run home run in the fifth inning blew game one open giving Saint Martin’s a 6-2 lead and the Saints held on to knock off Concordia 6-4 in a non-conference contest. Sam Munger picked up her ninth win of the season giving up just two earned runs over seven innings.
Aubree Pocklington homered in a four run second inning and scored the eventual game winning run on a Lacey McGladrey sacrifice fly to give the Saints the 5-4 game two win and sweep of the NAIA #24 ranked Cavaliers. Taylor Bakos had an off day in the circle giving up four earned runs in two innings but Kaylee Lawson pitched five scoreless innings in relief to pick up her first win of the season.

Saint Martin’s pounded out 18 hits in game one and took a 7-1 lead in game two but couldn’t come away with a win in either game dropping two 8-7 decisions to Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho. The Crusaders scored a combined 12 runs in the seventh inning of the two games. They posted five runs in the nine inning first game to erase a 6-2 deficit they wouldn’t relinquish. And in the seven inning game two, the Saints surrendered seven runs in the seventh including a two run walk off homer by Tate Glasgow.
Chandler Tracy hit a home run in each game and went 3-for-8 with five RBI in the doubleheader but the Saints dropped to 3-25 and 1-13 in GNAC play.
River Ridge alum Jon Matos went 3-for-8 with three runs scored and three RBI in the pair of Crusaders wins.

Sam Munger and Taylor Bakos combined to give up just six hits and one earned run in Saint Martin’s 9-0 and 4-1 doubleheader sweep of GNAC leader Simon Fraser. Munger also hit a home run in game two, a solo shot in the first, and drove in another run in the fifth. Joselyn Eugenio went 4-for-6 in the doubleheader and drove in three runs and Christina Demar hit a home run in the second inning of game one.
The wins move the Saints to 17-9 overall and 8-4 in conference, just a half game behind the Clan. Munger’s third shutout of the season moves her record to 8-5 and she lowered her ERA to 2.02. Bakos, meanwhile, is now 9-4 with a 2.17 ERA.
