Tonight: #1 Bellarmine comes to town
Big boy’s basketball game in the 4A Narrows League tonight when Olympia (10-3 overall, 6-1 Narrows) plays host to #1 ranked Bellarmine Prep (12-1 overall, 8-0 Narrows). on December 16th, the Bears nearly pulled off the upset losing 51-49 at Bellarmine. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM at Chick Rockey Gym.
In other boy’s basketball action, Timberline (5-8 overall, 0-4 Narrows) hosts Foss (10-2 overall, 2-1 Narrows) and Capital (5-5 overall, 2-1 Narrows) hosts #6 ranked Wilson (12-2 overall, 4-0 Narrows).
The South Puget Sound Clippers host Highline tonight. The doubleheader tips off at 6:00 with the women and continues at 8:00 with the men.
After forfeiting a good portion of their games last year when they couldn’t field a team, the Clippers women (3-11 overall, 0-5 NWAACC West) are again down to only seven players. Three players do most of the work for the Clippers as Alychia Colon, Monteaka Norwood and Aisha Jones all average just over 13 points per game.
The men’s team (5-10 overall, 1-4 NWAACC West) is lead by Black Hill’s Anye Turner and Georgia native Scotty Ewing, who are each scoring 15 points per game. They’ll have to stop Highline’s (4-12 overall, 3-4 NWAACC West) 6’10” freshman forward, Nikosi Ali (another Georgia native) and his 16.8 points per game.

Today: a rare Geoducks Monday
Corban College comes to town this afternoon for a rare Monday doubleheader at The Evergreen State College.
The Evergreen women take on the NAIA Division II 15th ranked Warriors (14-5 overall, 8-2 CCC) and will have the tough task of trying to shut down Katie Steigleman and her 21.8 points per game. Steigleman returned yesterday at Northwest Christian after missing six games due to a knee injury and scored 28 points in their 63-51 victory at Northwest University. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
Following the women, the Evergreen men and their six players (maybe seven) will try again for their first conference win against the Warriors (11-11 overall, 3-7 CCC) who are coming off a 75-65 loss to Northwest last night. Tip-off is at 5:00 PM at the CRC Gymnasium.
Last night: Geoducks struggles continue
Men’s basketball: Northwest Christian 86, Evergreen 70 – The Geoducks only dressed six players while the Beacons played 14 players. I think this tweet from head coach Arvin Mosley Jr. tells the whole story…
https://twitter.com/coachmosleyjr/status/161325520674496512
The loss drops the Geoducks to 1-18 overall and 0-10 in conference play.
Women’s basketball: Northwest Christian 46, Evergreen 39 – It took the Geoducks until the 7:12 mark in the first half to score their first basketball but they still managed to chip away at a double digit lead and were only behind 19-14 at the half. After tying the score at 21, the Beacons went on a 13-0 run and never looked back en route to their first conference win. The Geoducks Danielle Swain had 10 points and tied a school record by bringing down 21 rebounds. Evergreen is now 4-15 overall and 2-8 in the CCC.
Tonight: Evergreen finally gets to play
After a week of snow and ice, falling trees and no power, the Evergreen campus is finally open again and ready to host some basketball.
The Evergreen women (4-14 overall, 2-7 CCC) face off against Northwest Christian (8-13 overall, 0-9 CCC) at 5:30 at the CRC Gymnasium. The Geoducks beat the Beacons 67-62 in the first meeting on December 20th but took CCC first place Oregon Tech to double overtime before eventually losing 66-68 last Saturday.
The woefully undermanned Evergreen men (1-17 overall, 0-9 CCC) hope to pick up a win over one of the weaker Cascade Conference teams, Northwest Christian (9-12 overall, 2-7 CCC). But even with a more complete roster on December 20th, the Geoducks still lost to the Beacons 96-79 in Eugene. Tip-off is at 7:30.
Last night: tough losses for Saints and Shock
Men’s Basketball: Alaska-Anchorage 64, Saint Martin’s 54 – Anchorage’s Taylor Rohde – an Arizona State transfer – scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in Seawolves 64-54 victory at Marcus Pavilion. The Saints top two scorers, Jeremy Green and Roger O’neill were held to only 10 points on a combined 4-for-21 shooting. The loss drops the Saints to 8-10 overall and 3-4 in the GNAC. More from SMUSaints.com and The Olympian.
Women’s Basketball: Alaska-Anchorage 83, Saint Martin’s 48 – The first place Seawolves had too many weapons for the Saints to handle on Saturday night in Anchorage. Led by 23 points from Haley Holmstead, Alaska opened up a 17 point advantage at halftime and never looked back. The Saints were led by Jordyn Richardson’s 18 points off the bench. More from SMUSaints.com
Arena Soccer: Marysville Ruckus 7, South Sound FC 5 – The winless Ruckus scored the final five goals over the last 20 minutes and knocked off the Shock 7-5. The Shock are now 2-3 in the PASL-Premier.
