Today (6/23): Tecmo, derby definitely; Baseball, racing doubtful
In personal 10 year-old me excitement level at an all time high news, The Brick on Trosper is hosting the inaugural Pacific Northwest Tecmo Chamionships and I will be representing Oly Sports hard. Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl were always my favorite video games growing up, even when the technology got better and better. So there is no way that I can pass up playing a Tecmo Super Bowl tournament. I was so obsessed with the original Tecmo Bowl that I actually kept a notebook that tracked the statistics for all of my games. When Tecmo Super Bowl was released and kept the stats for you, I didn’t have to keep that notebook anymore, but I was still obsessed.
The tournament gets underway with pool play at noon that determines the seeding for the double elimination tournament that will crown a champion. You can still register for the tournament at The Brick on Trosper and the buy-in is $20. For more information, visit PNWTecmo.com.
Following my triumphant victory at the Tecmo tournament, head on over to Skateland! (I have decided I will always refer to Skateland! as Skateland! with an exclamation point from here on out on this blog) for the Oly Rollers derby doubleheader.
The warmup bout pits the fresh meat Bella Donnas against the JBLM Bettie Brigade. Then, the big league Cosa Nostra Donnas face off against The Naptown Roller Girls’ Tornado Sirens who have traveled all the way from Indianapolis for three games over the weekend. Naptown, the #18 ranked squad by Derbytron and #15 ranked by Derby News Network, plays Jet City in the morning, Oly Rollers at night and Rat City on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Oly Rollers are currently ranked #1 by Derbytron but just 12th by Derby News Network ad will be well rested and ready to rumble the road weary Sirens.
Tickets for all this great derby action can be purchased at the Skateland! door for $15 and wheels hit the floor at 6:00 PM.
The Puget Sound Collegiate League season continues with three games on Saturday at the RAC, weather permitting. Game one features a match-up between the league leaders, the 4-1 Lacey Saints, and the league cellar dwellers, the 0-4 Nisqually Silvers. First pitch is at noon. Game one has been rained out. The Silvers play their second game of the day at 2:30 PM against the 3-2 West Olympia Linx. And in game three, the the Tumwater Brewers and Hawks Prairie Cardinals square off looking to break their tie four fourth place. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
And finally, it will take a weather miracle for racing at South Sound Speedway to get the go ahead. But if there is a miracle, racing starts at 6:30 PM. Racing is cancelled today.

The A’s drew first blood in the second inning when Drew Fosnes (Green River CC) was hit bay a pitch, advanced to second on a wild pitch, stole third base and scored on an error. Bret Bitow (Saint Martin’s) drove in what turned out to be the winning run in the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Linx cut the lead to one run in the sixth when Skyler Wheeler (Grays Harbor CC) doubled in Chris Womac (Green River CC, Olympia HS) but the A’s answered back with a run in the seventh and three more in the eighth to seal the win.
Womac went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base for the Linx who lost their second game in a row following a seven game win streak.
