The Washington State Senior Games draws up to 1,700 participants to the Olympia way and today features the opening ceremonies at Tumwater Stadium at 8:00 AM followed by Track & Field events starting at 9:00 AM and running into the afternoon. Also on the Tumwater High School campus is the 3-on-3 basketball tournament and other basketball events in the gymnasium. Tomorrow also features pickleball, raquetball and bowling at various sites around town. Check the complete schedule here.

The Special Olympics Southwest Region Softball Tournament comes to LBA Park and Stevens Field beginning at 9:00 AM and continuing throughout the day. Volunteers might still be needed so if you would like to help out, head over to LBA bright and early to find out what you can do. Or go root on the handful of Olympia teams that are taking part in the festivities. For more info, click here.

How does a 7.4 mile mountain bike ride, a 22 mile road bike ride, a 3.5 mile paddle, a 4.5 mile run and a final half mile trek to Port Plaza sound to you? Well then the Olympia Traverse is just for you. The festivities get underway at noon at the Mima Falls Trailhead with bikes traveling through the Capitol Forest and The Evergreen State College and to West Bay Park. From there they paddle to Swantown Boatworks, run to Priest Point Park and back and eventually head to Port Plaza with their team to wrap it all up.
