Saturday Scores: Geoducks Upset #17, Saints Wallop Eagles; T-Birds Roll On, Bears Take 3rd

Evergreen 84, Lewis & Clark 75 – Recap
Saint Martin’s 68, Northwest 30 – Recap
With 4:14 left to play, Katie Anderson hit a three pointer to put Lewis & Clark up 71-68 over Evergreen at the CRC Gymnasium. But the Geoducks finished the game on a 16-4 run to upset the NCAA Division III’s 17th-ranked team, 84-75. The Geoducks shot 52.4% from the field and had five players score in double digits including Kiemba Pearson’s 17 points off of the bench.
Sadee Jones and Jessica Denmon scored 15 and 14 points respectively and Brittany Gray added 13 with eight rebounds. Sammi Clark went scoreless in the first half but chipped in 11 points in the final 20 minutes to go along with six assists.
Evergreen won their third game in a row and are 3-2 this season.

Saint Martin’s gave up just 30 points tonight, the least amount of points they have allowed since they jumped to NCAA Divison II, to waltz to a 68-30 win over Northwest University at Marcus Pavilion. The Eagles committed 32 personal fouls and the Saints made 24 of 37 free throws while Northwest shot just four free throws all evening.
The Saints hit eight three pointers, three each from Angela Gelhar and Jordyn Richardson, who scored 14 and 11 points respectively. Ciara Pedroni and Chelsea Haskey tallied 11 points each and Liz Mills added 10.
Northwest kept it close in the early going and led 10-9 with just eight minutes gone but were held scoreless over the next five minutes and the Saints went on a 27-5 run over a 12 minute span to close out the first half.
Just like Evergreen, Saint Martin’s has won three straight games and is 3-1 this season.

Tumwater 45, White River 7
Tumwater trailed for the first time in the postseason when White River jumped out to a 7-0 lead and led by just seven at the half, but turned on the afterburners in the second half to heat up the frigid crowd and to roll past the Hornets, 45-7.
The T-Birds will likely travel to the Tri-Cities on Saturday next week to take on Prosser, who knocked off Mark Morris 45-22. The game is expected to be played at Lampson Stadium in Kennewick on Saturday afternoon.

Olympia 0, Mead 0 – Olympia wins shootout 2-0.
College volleyball
Northwest Nazarene 3, Saint Martin’s 0 – Recap
Riddled by injuries, Saint Martin’s finished the season on a ten game losing streak with their straight sets loss to Northwest Nazarene. The Saints ended the season at 7-23 overall and 3-15 in GNAC play.
