Today (4/28): Saints look to clinch outright GNAC title and honor four seniors
The Saint Martin’s softball team scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning yesterday capped off by a Sam Munger single that scored Megan Miller to claim at least a share of the GNAC regular season title in dramatic fashion.
Today, the Saints can claim the regular season title outright and head to the GNAC tournament in Billings as the #1 seed with at least one win in their doubleheader against Central Washington beginning at the Saint Martin’s softball field.
The Saints will honor four senior that have been a huge part of the Saint Martin’s astounding turnaround over the last two seasons, Joslyn Eugenio, Madi Davis, Aubree Pocklington and Taylor Bakos.
Eugenio has been one of the top hitters for the Saints in all four of her seasons in Lacey. She hit .392 her freshman year, .391 as a sophomore, cooled off to .351 last season and is hitting .403 with four home runs this season. She led the Saints in runs batted in all four seasons with the Saints racking up 139 and counting for her career.
Bakos is in her second season as a Saint after transferring from Columbia Basin CC and has teamed with Sam Munger to form a formidable 1-2 punch on the mound. Last season, Bakos went 9-5 with a 2.32 ERA and is 13-7 with a 2.59 ERA this season.
Madi Davis and Aubree Pocklington are each transfers that have spent two seasons with the Saints. Davis is having a breakout year hitting .313 this year and has started all 47 games. Pocklington has seen the majority of the action behind the plate and is hitting .278 with four home runs this season.
First pitch today is schedule for noon, weather permitting.
