Tonight (1/25): Wolves, Hawks doubleheader; Rams, Blazers host Tacoma schools; Geoducks battle College of Idaho
Busy night of hoops in the South Sound tonight highlighted by an important 2A EvCo girls game between River Ridge and Black Hills. The 7-2 Hawks travel to Black Hills tonight sitting a game ahead of the 6-3 Wolves for second place in the conference.
The two teams met on December 21st in Lacey where River Ridge put together a 49-25 second half to overcome a six point halftime deficit to easily defeat Black Hills 78-60. Jazzlynn Brewster scored 24 points and MaKenna Schultz added 23 for the Hawks in the win while Nicole Nurmi led the Wolves with 15.
Tip-off tonight is set for 5:45 PM.
Following the girls game, the River Ridge and Black Hills boys square off. The Hawks currently sit in third place, a half game behind Capital following the Cougars 66-64 win over Centralia last night. Tip time is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
Across town in Lacey, the struggling North Thurston boys basketball team welcomes Dezmyn Trent and Foss to town while Timberline hosts Wilson in a matchup of 3-5 teams battling for fourth place in the 3A Narrows League. Both games tip at 7:00 PM. Listen to the game live on the Eli Sports Network by clicking here.
All the way back across town again, Evergreen hosts the College of Idaho in doubleheader basketball action. The Geoducks women start it off at 5:30 PM and the men will follow at 7:30. Tonight is Evergreen’s Coaches Versus Cancer night. Wear pink and half of your ticket price will be donated to the American Cancer Alliance of Thurston County. Live stats and video are available on the Evergreen athletics website.
VIDEO: Saint Martin’s Gelhar and Richardson rain threes
Saint Martin’s Angela Gelhar and Jordyn Richardson combined to hit seven three pointers in the second half of the Saints’ 74-57 win over Alaska-Fairbanks last night. Gelhar finished with 20 points and Richardson added 15 in the win. Above is all seven three pointers as called by me on the Saint Martin’s webcast.
Note: I know the music is a bit cheesy and the quality isn’t great. I’m still trying to figure out how to produce highlights using webcast videos that are small in size, hence the distortion on the titles and the video itself. Thanks for bearing with it for now, I hope you enjoy.
