Today (4/14): Racing season starts; Saints host Vikes; Navigators to play?

Racing season at South Sound Speedway opens tonight with mini stocks, hobby stocks, bumblebees, bump to pass (my personal favorite) and baby grands. Kids 15 year and under are free tonight and adults cost $12. Gates open at 5:00 PM and racing starts at 6:30.

Saint Martin’s softball hosts a doubleheader with Western Washington today. The Saints are currently third in the GNAC at 14-9 and are 24-14-1 overall while the Vikings are 7-15 in conference play and 11-28 overall. The two teams split a pair of doubleheaders two weeks ago in Bellingham. Western’s Stephanie Fox blanked the Saints in both games extending her scoreless innings streak to 27 innings, a school record. She extended that record to 29 innings on Thursday against MSU-Billings before giving up seven runs over the next three innings. First pitch is at noon.

The Northwest Christian baseball team may finally play a baseball game today when they are set to host the Charles Wright Academy at Bucknell Park at 4:00 PM. Between Spring Break, the rain and Taholah canceling it’s season, the Navigators haven’t played a game since a loss to Lake Quinault on March 28th. Head coach Damon Ford’s squad is 4-4 overall and 2-2 in league.

Also on tap today, a 2A EvCo baseball matchup between Black Hills and North Thurston. First pitch in this makeup game is scheduled for 1:00 PM at NTHS.

There are also probably numerous other makeup games being played around town. Follow me on Twitter for the latest updates.
