Olympia High School basketball star and former Evergreen hooper Jeff Pasquariello has been named head coach for the women’s basketball team at Portland Community College. – Link

Oly’s Kramer Champlin picked up his fourth win of the season for the single-A Lansing Lugnuts today pitching 4 1/3 innings of relief in their 6-2 win over the Jared Sandberg managed Bowling Green Hot Rods. Champlin gave up just one hit and struck out two batters and lowered his season ERA to 3.93. – Box score

New South Puget Sound men’s basketball coach Aaron Landon announced his second signing today on Twitter. Landon welcomed Keegan Liebelt, a 6-3, 195 pound shooting guard out of Vancouver’s Skyview High School to the Clippers squad. Liebelt was a 4A all-GSHL first team selection this season. – Link

Saints Pendleton profiled in The Olympian

Never got a chance to post this on Tuesday, but The Olympian’s Meg Wochnick had a very nice profile of Saint Martin’s 24 year-0ld senior Brok Pendleton that detailed his “long road to Lacey”. Pendleton went from Auburn High School to Brigham Young to Green River Community College to a mission in France back to Green River and finally to Saint Martin’s where he is is averaging 14.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game for the Saints and has posted 24 and 26 points over hist last two games. From the Saint Martin’s University Facebook page…

“Congratulations to Saints baseball players Stephen Mahnken and Casey Thorpe on being selected to join the Athletes in Action International Baseball team this summer! Stephen and Casey will travel to the Dominican Republic to play baseball and share their Christian faith. #GoSaints”

Mahnken is a freshman outfielder from Puyallup and Thorpe is a freshman catcher from Olympia High School.

Geoducks weekly releases

The Evergreen State College Geoducks head out on the east CCC roadtrip this weekend taking on The College of Idaho on Friday in Caldwell and Eastern Oregon on Saturday in LaGrande.  Here is the weekly release previewing the match-ups for the men and for the women.

Note: in the men’s release it is mentioned that they will welcome more available players to the squad. According to head coach Arvin Mosley Jr. on Twitter, these will be returning Geoducks and not new players. Evergreen has been playing with only six or seven players for the last couple weeks.
