Meg Wochnick has a list of all the local athletes signing letters-of-intent today. We’ll have more about the list later tonight, but for now visit The Olympian to see where everybody is going.

OlySports.com is on vacation
Bad timing, I know, but I’m on vacation until Sunday, February 4th and don’t know how often I’ll be updating the blog. I hope to get to it sometimes, but I’d imagine that I won’t be able to bring you the “Tonight” and “Scoreboard” every night. I will definitely update if big things happen like state titles for our local squads, but I can’t promise anything. Please follow my Twitter page @OlySportsBlog because I know I’ll be able to update there and retweet other writers covering Olympia teams.
Tonight (2/21): win or go home, Rams
It’s a loser-out, winner-to-regionals double dip for North Thurston tonight in Chehalis.
First, the girls take on Lacey rival and #1 seed out of the EvCo River Ridge for the third time this season. The Rams won the first game at River Ridge 45-42 and the Hawks took the second game 53-39. To get to this point in the 2A District IV playoffs, the Rams beat Woodland, lost to W.F. West and barely got by Tumwater. The Hawks beat Hockinson, lost to Mark Morris and beat Woodland to set up tonight’s game.
Following the girl’s game, the North Thurston boys take on Washougal for the second time in these playoffs. In the opening round the Rams held onto a 75-72 victory. They then were beaten by Mark Morris and ended Tumwater’s season to get to tonight’s game. Tip-off is set for 7:45 PM.
Saturday Scoreboard: Rams, Hawks, Evergreen women win
Tired. Trying to do this on my iPad. The iPad is terrible for blogging, FYI. Scores and links only tonight. Beauty of a blog.

North Thurston girls are the area’s highest ranked basketball team
The latest AP state basketball rankings are out and the North Thurston girls are the highest ranked Olympia area basketball team coming in at ninth in 2A. No other area basketball team is ranked but Olympia, North Thurston, Tumwater and River Ridge all received votes in their respective classes on the boys side while River Ridge and Black Hills received votes on the girls side. The Olympian has the full rankings.
Snowpocalypse Causes Cancellations
What a day to start an Olympia sports blog!? You know, the day that there is no news other than EVERYTHING IS CANCELED! Anyway, Meg Wochnick has the full list of cancellations and rescheduled games over at The Olympian.
Welcome to Oly Sports!
Welcome to Oly Sports! My name is Brandon Sparks and I will bring you news and notes from the various recreational leagues, high school, college and professional sports teams here in the Olympia area. I’ll have some original content, links, schedules and all sorts of whatnot. I am only one man who also takes care of two little girls for my full time job so there will probably be things that I miss. Just be cool, we’re all in this together.
