Tonight (4/29): Underground Derby League interleague bouts

The Underground Derby League is back tonight with a pair of interleague bouts between the league’s four teams, the Oly Outlaws, Rolling Regulators, Fembots and South Bay Bombers. Doors at Skateland open at 6:00 PM and derby action starts at 6:30. Tickets are available at the door for $15.

Port Scandalous 106, Dropick Donnas 103
The Oly Rollers’ Dropkick Donnas and the Port Scandalous Rollergirls were tied at 103 with just over a minute to play but Port Scandalous got the last three points of the bout to pull out a thrilling 106-103 win at Skateland on Sunday night. The Donnas were down by ten at halftime and eleven with 14 minutes to play before closing the gap to draw even.

Offense was scarce at Dehler Park in Billings on Sunday when the two teams combined for just two runs total over 16 innings, the lowest scoring doubleheader in GNAC history. In game one, the Saints’ Tommy Deboer gave up just four hits and struck out six Yellowjackets in eight scoreless innings of work. Travis Jones’ double in the top of the ninth inning drove in Mario Sanelli for the only run of the game and Zach Carter worked a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth to preserve the win for the Saints.
In game two, Kaleb Wilson and Josh Moss combined to give up one run on four hits for the Saints but were out dueled by Matt Eames’ two hit, seven inning complete game shutout. With the weekend split, the Saints are now 11-25 overall and 7-11 in GNAC play.
Men’s soccer
Sounders U23s 3, Gonzaga University 2
Capital High School’s Josh Phillips, a sophomore defender for Gonzaga, is pictured above clearing the ball for the Zags.

CSU Monterey Bay 5, Saint Martin’s 1
After finishing the round robin portion of the CSU Stanislaus Tournament of Champions in Turlock, California 4-1 on Saturday, Saint Martin’s lost 5-1 to CSU Monterey Bay in the Gold Bracket semifinal. Rick Noren’s Saints went 6-2 on the California road trip and are now 20-10 on the season and are assured of their first ever winning season. The Saints return home and to conference play on Tuesday when they host Northwest Nazarene. The doubleheader starts at 2:00 PM.

Terminal City Rollergirls 153, Oly Rollers Dropkick Donnas 74
Vancouver’s Terminal City Rollergirls laid a Canadian whooping on the Dropkick Donnas in the second half of the bout on Sunday night. Oly led 32-31 with seven minutes left in the first half before Terminal City went on a 24-3 run to close the half. They then out scored the Donnas 97-39 in the second half.

The Dropkick Donnas take on Vancouver’s Terminal City Rollergirls in Oly Rollers derby action tonight at Skateland. Doors open at 6:00 PM and tickets will be available at the door.

Saint Martin’s took three out of four games in Burnaby over the weekend to take over control of second place in the GNAC behind Montana State-Billings. On Sunday, the Saints shutdown the Simon Fraser bats with Sam Munger and Taylor Bakos both pitching complete games giving up just two runs apiece. Tiffany Griffiths, Joslyn Eugenio and Morgan Klemm each went 4-for-7 in Sunday’s doubleheader for the Saints. Saint Martin’s is now 12-8 overall and 10-5 in the GNAC.

With two wins on Sunday, Central Washington completed the series sweep of Saint Martin’s dropping the Saints to 7-19 overall and 3-5 in the GNAC. LF Adam Hudspeth went 2-for-3 with a home run and RF Chandler Tracy added three hits for the Saints in game one. In game two, the Wildcats put up ten runs in the fourth inning including seven runs off of Saints reliever Josh Moss without recording an out. 2B Mario Sanelli went 2-for-5 with six RBI in game two.
Tonight (3/18): Oly Rollers vs. Jet City

As we speak, Skateland is getting ready for the season debut of the Cosa Nostra Donnas – the Oly Rollers’ varsity squad – and their bout with the Jet City Rollergirls of Snohomish County.
The Bella Donnas – Oly Rollers new meat – will take on the Tacoma’s Dockyard Derby Femme Fiannas in a twenty minute bout at halftime of the featured bout.
The festivities begin at 6:00 PM and tickets are available at the door for $15.

Brok Pendleton had 20 points and Roger O’Neill added 12 but Saint Martin’s couldn’t get the job done in the end and lost to the Nanooks 72-70. Fairbanks ended a 13 game losing streak with their win and the Saints have now dropped eight straight games. Evergreen got 19 points from senior Patrick Lewis on senior night and actually led 15-3 early in the first half, but the Geoducks were outscored 83-38 the rest of the way. Evergreen finishes the season 1-26. South Puget Sound got 35 points from Deshawn Hayes and another double-double from Anye Turner in their thrashing of Grays Harbor.

Two seniors on senior night helped Saint Martin’s knock off the Nanooks. Megan Teade had 12 points and Andrea Schutt had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Jordyn Richardson led the way with 17 points. Evergreen earned their first trip to the playoffs since the 2007-2008 season with their win over Northwest and Concordia’s loss to Eastern Oregon. Jessica Edge had 17 points to lead the way for the Geoducks. South Puget Sound had four players score in double digits, including 20 points from Aisha Jones and 17 points from Alychia Colon in their victory over Grays Harbor.

With their win, Olympia advances to the district title game at 6:00 PM on Monday night at the ShoWare Center in Kent. And with their win, North Thurston advances to a loser-out, winner-to-state regionals game on Tuesday night against Washougal

Olympia earned a state berth with their victory over Central Kitsap. It is the first time they’ve been to the regionals since 2003. North Thurston and River Ridge’s victories set up a loser-out, winner-to-state regionals game between the two on Tuesday night. Timberline loses in the semifinals but they are already bound for state.

Tonight (1/29): the Oly Rollers are back!
Roller Derby is back for 2012! The Oly Rollers kick of ftheir season with a doubleheader that will pit Olympia’s Bella Donnas against Centralia’s Rainy City Roller Dolls and Oly’s Dropkick Donnas against Corvallis, Oregon’s Sick Town Derby Dames.
Tell me, what about this doesn’t look like awesome fun times…
