4A Narrows League tournament championship game
Olympia vs. South Kitsap – The RAC – 6:30 PM
The Narrows League tournament at The RAC comes to a close today with a pair of championship games featuring three Olympia area teams. The action kicks off at 4:00 PM when North Thurston and Timberline meet for the third time this season and continues with Olympia and South Kitsap at 6:30 PM.
North Thurston and Timberline both swept through Narrows League play undefeated until the two teams met on April 19th. The Blazers swept the two game series, winning 5-2 at Timberline and 2-0 at North Thurston to claim the regular season title. The two teams are unquestionably the class of the league. The Rams outscored their league mates 129-10 through 13 games while the Blazers outscored their opponents 113-9 in 12 games. The winner today claims the Narrows League title and the #1 seed to districts while the winner claims the #2 spot.
Olympia suffered just one loss in the 4A Narrows League regular season and that came to South Kitsap in Port Orchard, a 10-0 loss on April 16th. The Bears won the first meeting between the two teams in March, 10-4. The Bears finished 11-1 in league while South Kitsap was second place at 8-4. The Wolves knocked off Bellarmine 5-0 on Wednesday to get to the title game. Again, the winner gets the #1 seed to districts while the loser gets the #2 seed.

GNAC tournament
Saint Martin’s 8, Central Washington 0 – Recap from SMUSaints.com
GNAC Pitcher of the Year Sam Munger gave up just three hits over six innings and GNAC Player of the Year Lacey McGladrey homered and drove in four runs in Saint Martin’s 8-0 win over Central Washington on the first day of the GNAC tournament in Billings, Montana. Aubree Pocklington went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for the Saints.
While McGladrey and Pocklington get the offensive headlines with seven RBIs between them, it was Madi Davis’ RBI single in the second inning that proved to be the game winner. The game ended in the bottom of the sixth when Pocklington drove in Taviah Jenkins to make the score 8-0 to trigger the mercy rule.
Munger won her 21st game of the season and #22 Saint Martin’s moved to 37-13 overall. They will face Simon Fraser on Friday morning at 9:00 AM. The winner moves on to the championship game on Saturday while the loser will face the winner of the Central Washington/Western Oregon game in an elimination game Friday afternoon.

Olympia vs. Yelm – Stevens Field – 4:00 PM
Timberline vs. Shelton – Timberline HS – 4:00 PM
Olympia is tied with South Kitsap in first place of the 4A Narrows League at 9-2 but both of the Bears’ league losses came to the Wolves. To win the Narrows regular season title, they have to win today against 5-6 Yelm and hope that winless Stadium can pull off a major upset on Friday. The Bears won a close game in Yelm on April 15th, 4-2 while South Kitsap beat Stadium 29-0 early in the season.
On the 3A side of the Narrows, Timberline faces the same situation as Olympia. They currently sit at 9-2 in league tied with North Thurston but the Rams swept the season series and hold the tiebreaker. For the Blazers to win the regular season title, they need to beat 7-4 Shelton at home and hope that 1-9 Mount Tahoma can come up with some serious magic and knock off the Rams in Tacoma. The Blazers barely took down the Highclimbers in Shelton in their last meeting, scoring five runs in the final two innings to pull out the win. Meanwhile, North Thurston beat Mount Tahoma 17-7 in their first meeting.

They did pick up a non-league win over Klahowya on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Rams dropped two to Timberline and then had an easier road outscoring lowly Mount Tahoma 39-0 in two games. They also picked up two non-league wins over Capital at Cheney Stadium and River Ridge.

Dominique Greeno’s grand slam in the third inning opened up the scoring for North Thurston and a seven run seventh inning gave the Rams the regular season sweep of Timberline with a 12-6 win on the Blazers’ home field. Both teams sit at 9-2 in the 3A Narrows League with one game to play and North Thurston holding the tiebreaker.
After Greeno’s slam gave North Thurston a 4-0 lead, Timberline quickly put two runs on the board in the bottom of the third. Each team added a run in the fourth inning, including Molly Emmons’ solo shot for the Blazers, and held each other scoreless in the fifth and sixth innings.
But in the seventh, the Blazers’ defense let them down and the Rams capitalized stringing together seven runs to take a commanding 12-3 lead. Timberline was able to put three runs on the board in the final frame but it was too little too late and they will now need to knock off Shelton and hope Mount Tahoma can upset North Thurston to take the regular season title.
Greeno added two more doubles and went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI and Dejah Hickman had three hits including a home run and two RBI for the Rams. Ciera Davis went the distance on the mound and picked up the win.
Ellie Jones had three hits, drove in a pair of runs and scored twice for the Blazers and Makenzie Sylvester also added three hits and two runs scored in the loss.
