Today (3/16): maybe some baseball and fastpitch?

The forecast doesn’t look too bad and we just might get a baseball or fastpitch game in today. So here are some games that could possibly be played today. Timberline secured some turf so at the very least they should get their game in today.

High school baseball

South Kitsap vs. Timberline @ The RAC – 4:00 PM
North Thurston @ Black Hills – 4:30 PM
Tumwater @ River Ridge – 4:30 PM

High school fastpitch

Let’s go weather!

Wednesday scoreboard: Navigators, Bears win

About the games on turf fields in Lacey, the high school fastpitch and baseball teams were able to play their games today, but the big boys from Olympic College and Lower Columbia were rained out. What gives? I don’t blame them one bit, it was nasty.

High school baseball

Northwest Christian 8, Tacoma Baptist 7

Tied 5-5 through five innings, Northwest Christian scored three runs in the sixth inning and held off Tacoma Baptist in the seventh inning to pick up their first on-field win of the season.

High school fastpitch

Olympia 7, Curtis 6

Curtis scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie Olympia 6-6 but the Bears scored in the bottom of the seventh to pick up the win. Nikki Schroeder pitched all seven innings for the Bears to pick up the win.

Tonight (3/14): baseball on turf

If your team doesn’t have a turf field, don’t expect to play today. But the Regional Athletic Complex does have a nice turf baseball field and it is getting a workout right now. And not just from local teams.

Today, Olympic College plays a doubleheader against Lower Columbia College starting at 3:00 PM. This is a makeup of a doubleheader that was rained out at Story Field in Longview last week. This is Olympic College’s second third doubleheader that has been moved to the RAC. The Rangers (OC) are 4-4 this season and the Red Devils 1-1.

And just down the road, Bucknell (Skyhawks) Park has a turf field, albeit with a very short porch. Northwest Christian is taking advantage of that park today when they play Tacoma Baptist at 4:00 PM. The Navigators are 1-0 after a Monday forfeit by Oakville.

UPDATE: Olympia’s fastpitch team takes on Curtis today at the RAC. First pitch is scheduled for 3:45. Turf!

Tuesday scoreboard: Saints roughed up, Blazers beat Hawks, T-Birds and Rams win

College baseball

Concordia 12, Saint Martin’s 5 – More from CascadeConference.org

Concordia jumped out to a 8-0 lead through five innings in a non-conference game in Portland on Tuesday afternoon and never looked back knocking off Saint Martin’s 12-5.  Adam Hudspeth, Bobby Twedt and Travis Jones each had two hits for the Saints. Concordia’s Jared Young went 2-for-4 with four RBI and Timberline graduate Ben Talbot drove in a run for the Cavaliers.

STOP THE PRESSES: The University of Washington plays in the NIT tonight! Just kidding. Move on.

The spring sports season gets going in earnest tonight and it looks like even this snow won’t stop the fun. Here is the schedule in town as far as I can tell. Of course, all softball and baseball games could easily be canceled…
