Olympia teacher and baseball coach Todd McDougall passed away on Saturday morning after a seven month battle with brain cancer.  He was 43 years old and is survived by his wife Julie, daughter Marlee and sons Andrew and Dylan.

I never met coach McDougall but was touched by the outpouring of support for him over the past year since he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He was obviously well loved and many are touched and saddened by his loss today. Here are some selected tweets and more from others regarding his passing….

First, a couple links…

From the Puget Sound Collegiate League and Matt Acker…

“We lost a great Thurston County coach, Todd Mcdoughall. Todd coached at Olympia high school for years. Many of his former players have played in the PSCL. We are very aware of his positive impact on these players on and off the field.

Personally Todd was a friend, competitor, confidant, supporter and a positive example.

Most importantly to Todd he was a father to three kids and a wife he loved dearly, a leader with his actions, truthful to himself and his beliefs, phenomenal teacher, resource to educate and support our youth and a positive example in the community. Our thoughts and prayers go to Todd’s wife Julie and his kids.

Todd has impacted so many peoples lives in the area and he will be missed. We hope to do our best to play the game right, compete, give back, and be a positive influence on and off the field in Todd’s honor.”

And some tweets from colleagues, players, students and people that didn’t even know him…

Rest in peace Coach McDougall. My thoughts are with his entire family and everybody touched by his passing.
