Monday scoreboard: Bears advance to state; Blazers season ends
High school softball
4A West Central/Southwest Bi-District Tournament
Olympia 3, Puyallup 2
Tahoma 4, Olympia 1
Puyallup looked to have ended Olympia’s season on Monday afternoon after scoring a run when Bears’ Leticia Farias could not make a catch of a pop up after a Viking runner collided with her.
But after a lengthy delay, obstruction was called to end the inning and send the game to extra innings where Hailey Hull hit a sacrifice fly to score the game winning run and send Olympia to the state tournament in Spokane later this week.
Olympia lost a seeding game to Tahoma later in the day and will be the #7 seed from the district. They will take on Central Valley on Friday, May 24th at noon at the Merkel Sports Complex in Spokane.
It is the first state tournament appearance for the Bears since 2004.
3A West Central/Southwest Bi-District Tournament
Enumclaw 10, Timberline 4
Auburn Mountainview 16, Timberline 2
Timberline needed just one win to play in the 3A state tournament at The RAC beginning on Friday but could only manage six runs and saw their season come to an end at the Sprinker Recreation Center in Spananway.
