Today (5/14): Capital faces Tyee in state tourney first round
Capital vs. Tyee – Highline Memorial Stadium, Burien – 7:30 PM
Capital, the last remaining boys soccer team from the Olympia area, opens state tournament play when they face Tyee at Highline Memorial Stadium in Burien tonight at 7:00 PM.
The Cougars finished second in the 2A EvCo at 8-4 but lost their first round game in the District IV tournament to Mark Morris. An upset of EvCo champion Aberdeen and a 2-0 win over Centralia in the consolation bracket led them to third place and a birth in the state tourney.
Tyee finished second in the 2A Seamount at 10-3-1 behind undefeated Hazen and won their only district game 3-1 over White River to advance as the #3 seed out of the West Central District. The Totems finished the season 12-4-1.
The computer rankings of ScoreCzar have predicted that Tyee will beat Capital 2-1.
