Wednesday scoreboard: Saints, A’s, Cards prevail; Reign shot down by Soldiers

The Nisqually Silvers took a three run lead in the third inning but gave up six unanswered runs and dropped the game 6-3 to the Lacey Saints. After a Brandon Evans (Colorado State-Pueblo) single drove in two runs and Chase Lacomb (Colorado State-Pueblo) drove in another in the third for the Silvers, the Saints quickly tied the game in the top of the fourth after a bases loaded walk by Colby Fitzgerald (Centralia College) and a two run error on a ball hit by Jesus Acosta (Centralia College).
The Saints took the lead for good when Kyle Pegram (Pierce College) scored on a Tyler Zwosta (Centralia College) fielder’s choice in the sixth inning. Alexander Lee (Skagit Valley CC) and Pegram each drove in a run in the eighth inning when the Saints tacked on a pair for good measure.
Colin Nilson (PLU) went seven innings for the Saints giving up just the three runs in the third inning to pick up the win. Chase Wasson (Centralia College, Timberline HS) pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up the save.

Following a walk, Brian Clayton (Green River CC) scored the winning run in extra innings for the Olympia Athletics from first base on an error filled play giving the A’s the 3-2 win that snapped the West Olympia Linx’s seven game winning streak.
The Linx opened the scoring in the fourth inning on a Kyle Leady (Lower Columbia) double that scored Jordan Johansen (Corban College). The A’s Kyle Thomson (Yakima Valley CC) led off the sixth inning for the with a triple and was driven in two batters later on a sacrifice fly by Brett Gray (Central Washington) to tie the score at one. Thomson scored the go ahead run in the eighth but the A’s were unable to close the game and Mac Gridley (Lower Columbia) scored the tying run in the top of the ninth for the Linx before the A’s finally pushed across the winning run in the 10th.
The Linx’s Dan Eck (Yakima Valley CC) and the A’s Roderick Fields (Green River CC) each gave up just one run over six and seven innings respectively but neither figured in the decision. Despite blowing the save, Ryan Smith (Chemeketa CC, Black Hills HS) got the win for the A’s.

Chandler Tracy (Saint Martin’s) went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored and Daniel Flahie (Grays Harbor CC) went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored in the Hawks Prairie Cardinal’s 6-3 win over the Tumwater Brewers.
Both teams scored runs in the first inning and were deadlocked going into the sixth inning. But in the sixth, the Cardinals broke the game open behind Flahie’s two run double that scored Conor Cook and Kohei Yamaguchi (Riseisha-Osaka). Flahie scored two batters later on an Adam Yunker (Seattle U) single to give the Cards a 4-1 lead. The Brewers committed four errors in the game and it cost them when Jacob Oster (Chemeketa CC) scored what proved to be the winning run in the seventh inning for the Cardinals.
Sam Shadle (Graham-Kapowsin HS) got the win and Eli Fulton (Clark CC, Capital HS) got the save for Hawks Prairie. Naoki Imoto (Olympic College) and Kyle Holtman (St. Clair County CC) each had two hits for Tumwater in the loss.
International Basketball League
Salem Soldiers 171, Olympia Reign 142
Giovanne Woods scored 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Nate Menefee scored 26 points and seven rebounds in the Olympia Reign’s 171-142 loss to the Salem Soldiers. The Reign actually had the lead after one quarter, 34-32, but Salem scored 51 points in the second quarter to take a 15 point lead into the half.
Portland State grads Jeremiah Dominguez and Phil Nelson scored 45 points and 37 points respectively for the Soldiers. Dominguez went a ridiculous 12-for-13 from behind the three point line and the Soldiers hit 26 threes and shot 53% from three point range and 61% overall.
The Reign scored 142 points but only had nine assists on the night. Salem’s Dane Johnson had 15 assists himself.
