Monday scoreboard: Blazers take care of business, Bears don’t; T-Birds unscathed

High school baseball

On senior day, senior Ryan Tydingco went 2-for-2 with an RBI in 3A Narrows League leader Timberline’s 10-2 win over second place Yelm. Cobi Beal went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three stolen bases and freshman Matt Mercer picked up the win for the Blazers.

Zach Carras drove in two runs and Nick Mailhot scored twice and the two combined for six stolen bases in Northwest Christian’s 6-5 win over Naselle.

Gig Harbor scored four runs in the first inning and Nick Gagliardi pitched a complete game three hitter in the Tides’ 4-1 win over Olympia. Wednesday’s game at Crandall Field between the two teams will determine the 4A Narrows League champion.

High school softball

Tumwater 13, Centralia 7

After giving up just one run in their last five games, Tumwater found themselves down 7-6 to Centralia after four innings. But a six run fifth inning gave kept the T-Birds and Kierstin Smith undefeated. Read more about the game from The Olympian.

Capital scored three runs in the first, eight in the second and nine in the third and quickly mercy ruled Foss, 20-0. Alex Beckwith went 3-for-4 with four runs and five RBI for the Cougars.

Olympia also jumped out to an early lead scoring seven runs in the first and didn’t look back en route to a 9-1 win over Gig Harbor. Megan Goodman hit a home run and had four RBI and Nikki Schroeder went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
