Thursday scoreboard: Saints men snap losing streak in style, women win in the last seconds

Saint Martin’s 99, Central Washington 84 – More from SMUSaints.com

Saint Martin’s offense finally broke out in a big way and led the Saints to a 99-84 victory over Central Washington snapping an eight game losing streak. senior Jeremy Green – playing in his penultimate game – scored 34 points and pulled down 16 rebounds, Roger O’Neill added 22 points, senior Brok Pendelton had 16 and Brady Bomber scored 12. In total, the Saints starters accounted for 90 of the team’s 99 points. The Wildcats were led by Kevin Davis’ 27 points off the bench.

Though the Saints are out of the hunt, they did play spoiler for Central’s bid to make the playoffs. A win tonight and the Wildcats could have clinched the final spot but with the loss they now have to either win at Western Oregon on Saturday or hope that Saint Martin’s knocks off Northwest Nazarene in the final game of the regular season.

Women’s basketball

Saint Martin’s 68, Central Washington 66 – More from WildcatSports.com

River Ridge alum Sophie Russell hit a three pointer with just under a minute to play to tie the game at 66 but Chelsea Haskey’s jumper with 2.1 seconds left on the clock won the game for Saint Martin’s, 68-66. Freshman Brooke Paulson scored 25 points and Haskey had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Saints. Russell led the Wildcats with 26 points.
