Today (5/18): Tumwater plays for district title; Oly, Capital open districts

As I type this, Olympia – the #4 seed out of the Narrows League, is playing Skyview, the #1 seed out of the Greater St. Helen’s League at Sprinker Recration Center in the opening round of the 4A West Central/Bi-District fastpitch playoffs. The winner moves on to play either Todd Beamer or Emerald Ridge at 2:00 PM while the loser plays the loser of that game also at 2:00 PM.

On the 3A side, Capital takes on Bonney Lake at noon at Sprinker to open their district campaign. The winner gets a date with #1 seed Camas in the second round at 4:00 PM while the loser goes home for the day and plays a loser-out game on Saturday at 10:00 AM.

Tumwater takes on W.F. West for the 2A District IV title tonight at Fort Borst Park in Centralia. The Bearcats beat Mark Morris 12-1 and Centralia 17-3 to setup the matchup between the top two teams in the EvCo. Tumwater won all three games between the two teams during the regular season but two of those games were decided by just one run. First pitch at Borst Park is at 6:00 PM.
