Tonight (3/12): Lacey Legends Cup 2012
North Thurston and Timberline renew their Lacey Legends Cup rivalry tonight when they open the 2012 boy’s soccer regular season at South Sound Stadium at 7:00 PM. The Rams won last year’s matchup 4-3 in a shootout.
Both schools will be honoring one alumni each. North Thurston will honor 1991 graduate, Jason Dunn. Dunn was a four year all-state player in high school and member of the Rams’ 1991 state championship team. Dunn went on to play at Seattle Pacific University where he was a two time All-American and won an NCAA Division II National Championship. He played professionally for the Seattle Sounders, Witchita Wings, Seattle SeaDogs and Harrisburg Heat and made three appearances with the U.S. National Team.
Timberline is honoring 1999 graduate Willy Leiste. Leiste was named all-league three times while a Blazer and went on to play college ball at Barry University in Miami, Florida. While in at Barry, Leiste went to the NCAA tournament three times, the Final Four twice and the NCAA championship game once in 2000. Following college, Leiste returned to Washington and has been coaching youth, high school and college soccer ever since.
In high school baseball action, Northwest Christian hosts Oakville at Bucknell Park at 4:oo PM. Northwest Christian’s baseball Twitter account has confirmed that this game will go on despite the weather.
In high school fastpitch action, River Ridge is scheduled to play Northwest Christian in but the game will probably be cancelled due to this storm.
